C.I.T. Ruins Buildings (Medium)
Description
The C.I.T. ruins, once part of the Commonwealth Institute of Technology, now serve as the Institute’s primary access point for coursers. These ruins bear witness to the clashes between super mutants and synths, reflecting the ongoing struggle for control in the Commonwealth.
Layout
The courtyard and surrounding areas are strewn with debris, with a flatbed truck carrying radiation barrels and a trailer housing a first aid box. The main C.I.T. rotunda serves as the focal point, accessible via a small open lobby with art deco sculptures. Upper levels host intense battles between super mutants and synths, while classrooms and lounge areas offer additional exploration.
Notable Loot
- Mini nuke: Found on the floor in the rotunda lobby.
- Vault-Tec lunchbox: Located in the Pulowski Preservation shelter closest to the shoreline.
- Bottlecap mine: Unarmed, can be discovered in a classroom within the ruins.
Notes
- Destruction of the Institute in “The Nuclear Option” results in the obliteration of the C.I.T. ruins, creating a crater flooded by the Charles River.
- The rotunda features undamaged pre-War books, albeit non-interactable.
- Despite the Institute’s proximity underground, normal access requires the molecular relay, except during the quest Ad Victoriam.
Bugs
- Occasional instances of an invisible super mutant on the second floor have been reported on PlayStation 4.
- Near the C.I.T. ruins and Cambridge Polymer Labs, sightings of two clean white cars, a Corvega Blitz atop a Chryslus Cherry Bomb, have been noted on PlayStation 4.
Trivia
- Modeled after the real-world Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the C.I.T. pays homage to its academic counterpart.
- The C.I.T. rotunda design draws inspiration from the Great Dome at M.I.T.
- A nod to the film “Good Will Hunting” is evident with a janitor’s skeleton found near a math problem on a chalkboard, echoing the movie’s themes set at M.I.T.
