Where to Find Morgott, the Omen King in Leyndell, Royal Capital

Morgott, the Omen King is a Demi-God found in Leyndell, Royal Capital. More specifically you can find him through the fog gate up the stairs to the south from the Queen’s Bedchamber site of grace.

This is a required boss if you want to progress through the main storyline.

Morgott’s arena is up the stairs from the Queen’s Bedchamber site of grace.

Morgott Attacks

Morgott is quite similar to Margit, the Fell Omen, whom you fought at Stormveil Castle. Unlike Margit, however, Morgott will primarily wield a large sword that he can swing about with relative speed and a lot of force. Morgott’s sword also applies bleed damage.

This arena is bigger than the narrow bridge you fought Margit on in Stormveil Castle. This means Morgott has a lot more room to maneuver and perform crazy jumps and spins. Compared to Margit, Morgott is a lot more agile, meaning if you’re a melee player you’ll struggle with maintaining close contact with him. On the flip side, spellcasters will also struggle to keep a distance from him. Get ready for a whole bunch of side stepping and rolling!

Below you’ll find a list of special attacks and how best to manage them.

Conjured Throwing Blade Attack

If Margott is further away, he will conjure up and throw two glowing yellow blades at you. The best way to deal with this attack is to just dodge out of the way, or if you’re a melee character, you can run closer towards him to hit him and try to cancel the second blade throw. This attack is mostly reserved for when he’s at a longer range, so for those of you who play ranged characters, you’ll have to watch out for this move a lot more than melee players.

Conjured Spear

This is a new attack that you won’t have seen during the Margit fight. Morgott can conjure up a huge spear that he’ll use in a variety of different ways. Sometimes he’ll throw it, and this commonly follows up a throwing blade attack.

Other times Morgott will conjure up the spear and charge at you with it. The weapon is quite long and will come at you quickly but it’s also relatively easy to dodge out of the way of. If you’re able to dodge or roll behind Morgott as he’s charging you’ll be able to get a good couple of hits in on his back before he recovers from his charging spear attack.

Conjured Hammer

During the Margit boss fight in Stormveil, the hammer was only brought out in the second phase. However, Morgott will make frequent use of the hammer right from the get go. This thing is pretty brutal and will knock you over if you get hit by it.

Conjured Sword

Like Margit, Morgott will also conjure up a magical sword. It’s hard to know when he’ll use it but he’ll only really use it as a follow up to his main sword attack.

Tail Swing

This move is designed to counter the player who thinks that hitting an enemy from behind is a safe option! Morgott has a big, spikey (and gross) tail that he’ll utilise to defend himself should you spend too long attacking him from behind. He’ll swing around quickly and use his tail to smack you in the process! The best way to avoid this attack is to be constantly moving and not be greedy for attacks from behind.

Morgott’s tail is a hard hitter too, so watch out for it!

It’s Raining Daggers!

This can occur in the first phase, but more often than not you’ll see this attack in the second phase. Morgott wil make it rain daggers for up to 10 seconds at a time. They’re more annoying than anything, they don’t do a whole lot of damage but they will limit your movement as you navigate around the arena. The daggers will usually only rain down on around half of the arena.

Morgott will conjure up a rain of daggers that lasts around 10 seconds.

Second Phase Margitt Attacks

The second phase is triggered once you’ve damaged him to around half health. He will still use the abilities and attacks described above but also introduce some additional attacks.

Second phase explosion

When the second phase is triggered, Morgott will cause a big fiery explosion around him, meaning those of you who use melee weapons will want to back up as soon as you hit 50% health. The fiery explosion will lost a couple of seconds, and during this time some small pools of fiery will splutter from the ground. You can take this precious moment of inactivity to use your summoning bell or prepare a special attack.

The second phase is defined by his fiery explosion at 50% health.

Fire pools

Occasionally, he’ll cause little pools of fire to spawn on the ground. They act a bit like mini volcanoes spouting up fire that’ll damage you upon impact.

If you walk over the fiery pools, you’ll take damage for as long as you’re in it, so make sure to get out if you do find yourself caught in one.

Fiery Weapon

Sometimes he’ll set his weapon on fire and when he uses his weapon in this state it’ll create a fiery area of impact if he lands a hit on you. He’ll also occasionally hit the ground with his weapon to make the area around him fiery.

He’ll occasionally set his weapon on fire.

Strategy to Defeat Morgott

The Morgott fight can be tricky for some players because it feels so close to Margit but you should try not to treat it as such. If you feel as though it’s just another Margit fight, you might get frustrated by how much harder he is compared to Margit. Whilst the fight does utilise a lot of the same types of attacks Morgott naturally hits harder. He is also way more agile and has more space in the arena to dash around and get closer or further away from you.

You can use summons to help distract Morgott.

Morgott can conjure several different magical weapons whilst simultaneously using a large sword that applies bleed if you get hit by it. You can’t really predict what magical weapons he brings out as it’s quite instantaneous, but knowing what each one will do will help you assess the situation and back out if you need to.

For example, if he brings out the hammer, you’ll want to create space between the both of you and avoid not only the hammer but also the surrounding area where the hammer hits since it’ll create a tremor in the area of impact that could knock you down.

If he jumps back, be prepared for the throwing knife attack. Unlike Margit, however, when Morgott performs his throwing knife attack he may also follow it up with a spear throw. The first couple of times this happens you might be thrown off since you’re expecting a similar attack pattern to Margit. After each blade throw attack move make sure to be prepared to also dodge a huge javelin thrown at you - this is the attack that’ll hurt you the most so make sure you’re expecting it.

Basically, as is the case with a lot of fights where the boss is agile, dodging and rolling will be your best friend. You’ll also want to consider using a Spirit Ash summon to help distract him. Mimic Tear is always a safe bet but Black Knife Tiche is also a strong option as well.

Second Phase

When the second phase is triggered at half health, try to disengage (if you’re a melee player) and keep a distance as Morgott will cause a fiery explosion around him that’ll knock you over and cause a huge amount of damage to you if you’re caught in the explosion. He’ll do a manly scream before exploding so you’ll have a small window to move out of the way if you listen out for the scream.

The second phase isn’t a whole lot different to the first, except that Morgott occasionally conjures up pools of fiery lava and also set his weapon on fire. When he sets his weapon on fire and hits you, your summon or the ground, it’ll create a fiery area of impact around him that you’ll want to avoid.

During the second phase, you’ll be required to dodge fiery pool and daggers raining from the sky!

During the second phase, it also seems as though the dagger rain attack is more frequent. The build up the dagger rain attack is pretty obvious as a bunch of daggers will appear above Morgott. You’ll then have a second or two to dodge out of the area of impact. The dagger rain can last around 5-10 second and will basically cut off around half of the arena. You’ll want to stay out of the daggers and just keep to the portion of the arena that’s clear.

Morgott the Omen King Rewards

For defeating Morgott, you’ll earn 120,000 Runes, the Remembrance of the Omen King and Morgott’s Great Rune. The Remembrance of the Omen King can be traded for Morgott’s Cursed Sword or Regal Omen Bairn.
