Ground Zeroes features a brand new tagging feature for the series that enables you to place markers on enemies, enemy vehicles and points of interest that then remain on the target indefinitely. This is incredibly useful and once an enemy has been tagged, the marker allows you to locate and observe that enemy’s positions, status and actions at all times. Being able to keep tabs on enemies makes it much easier to plan your routes and time your infiltration of the base.

To tag an enemy, bring up Snake’s binoculars and zoom in, keeping an enemy in the centre of the screen. Hold the view there for a few moments and they will flash and a red marker will appear above their head.

There are several types of objects that can be marked and these include:

  • Friendly NPCs (prisoners) will have a green triangle-shaped marker.
  • Enemy soldiers will have a red triangle-shaped marker.
  • Enemy vehicles will have a white circle-shaped marker if unoccupied and a red circle if occupied.
  • Anti-Air Guns will have a white square-shaped marker.

Tagging allows you to see enemies and points of interest anywhere on the map.
