By
Ben Chard

Scene 05 in Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong will see the three main protagonists return the Prince’s Quarter to deliver their reports on their tasks. This all takes place in the Prince’s Quarter, and you’ll have some important choices to make and along with some puzzles.

You’ll find a Bookcase in the Prince’s apartment in Scene 05.

How to Access the Prince’s Apartment

During your conversation with Hilda at the start of Emem’s Scene, you’ll learn that she believes that the Prince is not being completely upfront with Emem, and that she should seek a way to get into her apartment and see if she can find anything out.

There’s only one way into the apartment, and that is via April Bosely’s office on the ground floor. Fortunately for Emem, you’ll notice that April is not currently vacating her office, she’ll either be in the corridor leading to the archives room shouting at her staff or in the bar, speaking with Hilda. Regardless of where April is, head into her office and you’ll be able to take the elevator, just be sure to finish all other business as when you’re done in the apartment, the Scene will end.

Once you reach the apartment, you’ll find there are two floors to explore, and when you go up to the top, you’ll find a bookcase which appears to be locked.

Make your way to April Bosely’s office on the ground floor to find an elevator to the Prince’s apartment.

How to Solve the Prince’s Bookcase Puzzle

There are several steps you’ll need to take to complete this puzzle, with the first step being how you unlock the bookcase in the first place. You’ll also see a swan statue nearby and if you have enough points in the deduction skill, you can learn that there’s an indent for something to be placed.

Head into the bedroom now and you’ll find a bookshelf behind the bed, look on here and you’ll be able to pocket the Miniature Swan. With this in hand, return to the swan statue from you were looking at a moment ago and you’ll find that you can place it on the indent. This unlocks a side compartment where you can obtain the Silver Key.

Return to the bookcase now and you’ll be able to use the Silver Key to open the case, granting you access to the books themselves. If you inspect them closely, you’ll notice that they’re lettered from A - G, and that you can pull them. To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to solve the pull the books in the correct order, but you’ll need more information first.

(1 of 6) The bookcase is located upstairs

Head back downstairs and you’ll find a music stand that you can interact with, do so and you’ll notice a piece of music. More importantly, if you look carefully, you’ll notice that some of the letters are circled. This will give you the answer you need to discover the order you need to pull the books in. Return to the bookcase and pull them in the following order:

  1. B
  2. F
  3. D
  4. A
  5. C

Once you pull them in this order, you will be able to pull a drawer out from below the bookcase, and inside you’ll discover three files you can interact with to learn more about the Prince’s true motives along with completing this main objective. Once you’re finished with your business here, return to the elevator to bring the Scene to an end and set out for the Anarchs.
