Assassin's Creed: Origins

My Brother for a Horse

By
Nathan Garvin

Suggested Level: 38

You can start this quest by heading to a villa east of Cyrene, which is between the Silphion Farm and Leander’s Villa. At this villa you’ll find a man named Darius, who will shout for you when you get near. Talk to him and he’ll ask you to recover his prize horse, Hermes, which was “requisitioned” by the Roman Quartermaster.

Leave the villa and head north to reach the nearby road running east-west and follow it east towards Alexandria, making your way towards the quest marker indicating this horse-thief. When you get near enough, use Senu to more precisely mark his location, which happens to be near the Archile Pandocheion point of interest.

Talk to Darius, who will ask you recover a horse that was “requisitioned” by Romans (left). Kill the Quartermaster and his guards at the Archile Pandocheion to find out where Hermes went (right).

Archile Pandocheion

Find the Quartermaster and kill him and his guards, then loot his body to obtain the note Requisition List , which bears the bad news that Hermes was delivered to one Praefectus Equites at the Chersonesos Roman Fort, which is a massive fort that can be found along the coast to the northeast. Before you head off and chase this treasure down, make your way to the northeast to find a barn protected by several Roman soldiers. Put them down, then enter the barn to find what they were guarding - a freshly dug up red chest. Loot it to complete the area.

Reward: For completing the Archile Pandocheion
450 XP

Seize Hermes from the centurion riding him (left) then take Hermes back to his owner (right).

Make your way northeast to find the Chersonesos Roman Fort, which is built upon a hill near the coast. It shouldn’t be hard to spot due to its massive size - the palisades and watch towers are a dead giveaway. The good news is that you don’t need to sack the fort to reclaim Hermes, as the Praefectus Equites will take the horse out with him on patrols. The bad news is that there’s another quest in that fort that’ll require you to defeat the Roman garrison within soon enough. Provided you’re patient enough to wait, ambushing the Praefectus Equites on the roads is is the ideal strategy, and if you’re fortunate, he won’t have much company, although as usual, convoys could complicate matters. Defeat him when he’s far enough away from the fort so as to not draw any reinforcements, then mount Hermes and ride him back to his owner to complete the quest, giving Bayek a first-hand experience of the prowess of Cyrenian horses.

Reward: For completing the quest “My Brother for a Horse”
