Diablo IV

Tenets of Depravity: Companion to Madness Guide

By
Matt Chard

The third quest in the Tenets of Depravity quest line in Vessel of Hatred takes you to the Seared Revelation camp, where you must seek out Marzhan the Scribe if you want to find Captain Kharov. Read on to find out where you need to go and what you need to do to complete the quest.

Most of this quest revolves around fighting battles in the Blood-Slick Pit in the Searing Revelation Camp.

Seared Revelation Camp Location

If you remember the words of poor Dmitriy, he told you to head to the Seared Revelation camp. This can be found in the Seven Stones region. Fortunately, this camp is near the Samuk Waypoint in the Five Hills region. Teleport to Samuk and leave via the northern exit. Follow the winding path north and then head east to find the camp.

When you reach the camp, head a bit further in to find Marzhan sitting by the table, and tell him that you want an audience with Captain Kharov. After some persuading, he’ll ask you to follow him as he takes you to the Blood-Slick Pit nearby. Head inside the Pit and Marzhan will send some enemies your way, which you’ll have to defeat to continue on.

Blood-Slick Pit

At first, you’ll fight a group of enemies, which shouldn’t take you long to defeat before you’re pitted against the Colossus. This sounds worse than what it is, as this enemy does exactly what you’d expect it to. The Colossus is a large, slow-hitting enemy that hits fairly hard.

It only has a couple of attacks which are a Fire Slam, a melee attack, and a melee combo. The Fire Slam will have the Colossus slam its weapon into the ground, unleashing fire that travels along the ground in a line. Its melee attacks are slow sweeping attacks and are easy enough to avoid by evading to its back.

(1 of 2) In the Blood-Slick Pit, defeat the first group of Dregs to start the Colossus battle.

Once you defeat the Colossus, it’ll transform into an Elite enemy called the Hateful Abomination. Once again, it’s slow and most of its attacks are slow melee attacks, and it can charge at you. The main difference with this version of the boss is that it will frequently summon enemies, more specifically, Malice’s and Frother’s.

This isn’t a particularly difficult fight either, simply defeat the summoned enemies as soon as they appear to avoid getting overwhelmed, and then get to the boss’s back, and evade to the back every time it turns around.

(1 of 2) Although faster than the Colossus, the Hateful Abomination is still slow. However, it’ll summon minions to fight alongside it.

When you’ve defeated all the minions, head up the stairs, and speak with Marzhan. Tell him to take you to Captain Kharov and he’ll agree to your request.

He’ll explain to you that Captain Kharov commands a place called the Temple of Profane and that he’ll meet you there where you’ll have to partake in the Blood Pilgrimage, whatever that is. This will conclude the quest and immediately give you the next quest, Tenets of Depravity: Scion of Blasphemies.
