Local Enemy Bestiary¶
Enemy Name | Notes |
---|---|
Haunt | Holy + Variable weaknesses |
Pairika | Weakness to Fire/Holy |
Tomb | Weakness to Water/Holy |
Having beaten Dark Valefor and Dark Ifrit, your next destination will end up being Djose. After arriving, you’ll end up starting a mission (and getting an Al Bhed Primer in the meantime). The goal of the mission is the same as the previous two: get into the temple and eradicate the fiend populous! Go into the temple and into the living quarters west of the stairs to find a Remedy . Then proceed up the stairs in the temple foyer to the Cloister of Trials.
It’s nice you don’t have to do the Cloister puzzle now. When in the Cloister, just go forward to the lift. Continue past it to the north and jump across the gap to get a Stamina Spring , then use the aforementioned lift.
In the area above, go north to find five pedestals. One of them will end up removing the barrier to the Fayth area. First get the Wristband chest, then go ahead and keep pushing in the pedestals; one of them at random will be the one that opens the path ahead, with the remaining four causing battles. With the barrier gone, you can continue towards the Fayth and towards another Dark Aeon.
BOSS - Dark Ixion¶
Dark Ixion | Details |
---|---|
Max HP / Max MP | 12,380 HP / 9,999 MP |
Elem. Weak / Resis / Immunity / Absorb | Water / None / Gravity / Lightning |
EXP / GIL / AP | 2,600 / 1,800 / 15 |
Common Steals / Rare Steals | Sprint Shoes / None |
Common Item Drops / Rare Item Drops | Soul of Thamasa / None |
Most of Dark Ixion’s offense is extrapolated from having played FFX. Ixion can use an Attack, Aerospark (removes 5/8 or 62.5% of your current HP), Thundara to all, and Thor’s Hammer (high non-elemental damage to all). That’s it for the predictable stuff; it can also use Recharge to heal 200 HP and MP for itself.
Dark Ixion is clearly the strongest Dark Aeon yet. Coming into this battle with NulShock Rings wouldn’t be too bad an idea, though that’s only going to work for Thundara, which is honestly a bit weak, so to each their own. In any case, opening with Mighty Guard or Shell/Protect to everyone will be really helpful in surviving (moreso Shell since 3/4 of the blockable attacks are magical, Aerospark being the only one that isn’t).
Offense-wise, opening with Magic, Power, Armor, and Mental Break are all really great for crippling Dark Ixion; that halved damage and doubled damage intake are very helpful, as usual. From there on out, there’s not much we can say as for what to do: favor Watera/Waterga if you can, but otherwise just keep dealing high damage and healing when needed.
After the battle, you’ll slowly get the Unwavering Guard Garment Grid and Crimson Spheres 2 and 3 . And so ends Chapter 3! There will be a scene, too. When you regain control of Yuna, wait for her to say “ I’m all alone “. From there on out, mash the X Button a lot until you hear four whistles: it’s another 100%-completion thing.
