There are two types of collectibles in Infinity Nikki, Whimstars and Dews of Inspirations. Read on to find out how to find them and what you get for collecting Whimstars.
Whimstars can be found in a variety of places.
How to Find Whimstars¶
Whimstars are arguably the most important collectible in the game and they can be found throughout the entire region. Some are easy to find whereas others are well hidden, but thankfully your number one companion Momo will be able to help you with these as he’ll inform you when there’s a whimstar nearby via a notification box above his head. This will allow you to press up on the d-pad on console or V on PC to track its location.
You won’t be able to simply walk up to a Whimstar and collect it, as some will require you to complete a specific challenge before it’ll become accessible and there’s a variety it could be, such as time trials, hide and seek, Whimink and Curio Domain. Below you can find out more information about each of the challenges:
Hide and Seek Whimstars¶

If you come across a glowing yarn ball on top of rooftops and umbrellas, then you’ll want to head over to it and it’ll trigger a small area of interest. You’ll want to search this area until you find a golden star and then the Whimstar will become available.
Time Trial Whimstars¶

There will be hollow Whimstars scattered around the map and they won’t be available until you complete the time trial which involves you utilizing the platforming to collect a certain amount of stars.
Curio Domain Whimstars¶

If you see a pink cubes while exploring, then approach it to enter a Curio Domain. Here you’ll need to complete a random puzzle to obtain the Whimstars, such as guiding a ball into a hole by adjusting the position of nearby boxes.
What are Whimstars Used For¶
Crafting Outfits with new abilities are needed in order to progress the main story and these will only become available once you’ve obtained the sketch. You can obtain these sketches by heading over to the Heart of Infinity and using up your precious Whimstars, so you’ll always want to make sure you go out of your way to collect them to avoid being unable to progress.
