My Time at Sandrock

How to Build an Ore Refinery

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to build an Ore Refinery in My Time at Sandrock.

The Ore Refinery works similar to the Recycler in which you put items into it and it turns them into particular drops.

How to Unlock the Ore Refinery Blueprint

The Ore Refinery blueprint can be purchased from Qi for 10 Data Discs at the Research Center. You’ll then need to wait for 3 days before obtaining the blueprint in the mail.

Required Materials to Build Ore Refinery

To make the Ore Refinery, you’ll need x5 Copper Plates, x2 Steel Bars, x2 Rubber Tubes and x2 Bronze Pipes. Below, you’ll find listed all the required raw resources for making the necessary materials:

  • Iron Scrap Item_IronWaste_qb 1.png(Steel Bars are a random drop)
  • 57 Copper Ore Item_Drop_Ore_Copper.png or Copper Scraps Item_CopperWaste_qa.png (Copper Bars are a random drop)
  • 8 Tin Ore Item_Drop_Ore_Tin.png
  • 6 Rubber Item_Drop_Rubber_0.png or Rubber Scraps Item_xiangjiaoWaste_qb.png(Rubber Pipes and Rubber are a random drop)

How to Get Steel Bars

The easiest way to get steel bars (especially if you haven’t completed the main quest In Trusses We Trust), is to recycle a bunch of Iron Scrap. You’ll have access to Iron Scraps once you’ve been to Gecko Station and received a letter from Rocky explaining that there is a new type of scrap pile in Eufaula Salvage.

Every day, you’ll be able to go to the Salvage Yard and mine a huge bus for iron scraps and other useful resources. The iron scraps can then be put in a Civil Recycler - steel bars are also a pretty high drop so you should have plenty in no time!

Later in the game, when you have access to Iron Ore and other metals, you’ll be able to make Steel Bars in the Civil Furnace. For now, recycling Iron Scraps is a great way to get enough Steel Bars!

How to Get Copper Plates

Copper Plates can be made from Copper Bars in the Processor. You’ll need 3 Copper Bars for every Copper Plate so in total you’ll need 24 Copper Bars to make 8 Plates. If you’ve not made a Processor yet, head over to our guide on how to unlock and build one!

How to Get Copper Bars

Copper Bars are most easily obtained by cooking up Copper Ore in the furnace. Copper Ore is the most abundant ore in the mines. It can be found on the first level of the Abandoned Ruins and you’ll be able to get hundreds of the stuff in no time. You’ll get the most Copper Ore from mining big Copper Crystals found in the mines, but you’ll also get some ore from clearing the blue-brown debris that blocks your path. You’ll need 45 Copper Ore to make enough Copper Bars to make 3 Copper Plates.

You can also get Copper Bars by recycling Copper Scraps. Copper Scraps are a common drop when quarrying the junk piles in Eufaula Salvage Yard so if you have a bunch of Copper Scrap it’s worth recycling it to get some extra materials. As with all recycled scraps, the drops aren’t guaranteed so this isn’t the most effective or reliable way to make a bunch of Copper Bars.

Copper Ore is found on every level of the Abandoned Ruins.

How to Get Rubber Tubes

Rubber Tubes can be obtained in one of two ways. Firstly, you could recycle a bunch of Rubber Scraps in the recycler in hopes of getting the 6 Rubber Tubes you need. Rubber Scraps can be obtained from Junk Piles and Rubber piles in Eufaula Salvage yard.

Secondly, you could make Rubber Tubes using the Grinder. To make 1 Rubber Tube, you’ll need 3 Rubber. In total you’ll need x6 Rubber to make 2 Rubber Tubes. If you’ve not made a Grinder yet, head over to our guide for more information on how to unlock and build one!

Before you can make Rubber Tubes in the grinder, you’ll need to purchase the recipe from the Commerce Guilde Store. It costs around 44 Gols depending on price fluctuation.

How to Get Rubber

Rubber can either be obtained from recycling Rubber Scraps, or it can also be found from just digging in Junk Piles. Make sure to check out Eufaula Scrap yard every day to get as many resources as you can!

How to Get Bronze Pipes

Bronze Pipes can be made using the Grinder. To make 1 Bronze Pipe, you’ll need 2 Bronze Bars.

How to Get Bronze Bars

Bronze Bars can be made in the Furnace with x3 Copper Ore and x2 Tin Ore. You’ll need to build a furnace before you can forge Bronze Bars yourself!

The main way obtain these materials is to mine them in Eufaula Salvage Abandoned Ruins.

Item_Drop_Ore_Copper.png Copper Ore x3

As outlined above, Copper Ore can be found in abundance in Eufaula Salvage Abandoned Ruins. To make the Bronze Pipes, you’ll need x12 Copper Ore.

Tin Ore can only be found in the mines once you’ve reached and unlocked at least the 3rd level of the Abandoned Ruins. To get to deeper levels of the mine, you need to search for door ways and holes downwards - most of the time they’ll be hidden behind depris so you’ll need to dig through it. It can be mined from silver spikey crystals. Once you’re at levels lower than the 3rd level, tin ore is very common and easy to mine. To make the Bronze Pipes, you’ll need x8 Tin Ore.

Alternatively, if you don’t fancy going mining, you can purchase Bronze Bars from Hammertime - the smithing shop. Prices fluctuate in Sandrock, but one Bronze Bar will cost around 45 Gols. Or, you could purchase some Tin Ore and Bronze Ore from Eufaula Salvage Shop. Bronze Ore costs 4 each and Tin Ore costs 8 so it’s cheaper than purchasing the Bronze Bars outright.

How to Use the Ore Refinery

The Ore Refinery machine works similarly to a Recycler in which you put one item in and it spits out a random assortment of other materials.

You can use it to get different minerals from ores and stones, but you can also make Power Stones from broken power stone pieces! Power Stones are great for fuelling your machines for a long time!
