After passing through the Cerulean Expanse, you will arrive at the Lost Ones Hamlet, a place that seemingly has nothing. This page will guide you through the Lost Ones Hamlet, as well as help you fight the Meduso boss.
Lost Ones Hamlet Walkthrough - Sea of Stars¶
When you first arrive at Lost Ones Hamlet, your party will notice that nothing is there. Head north and after a scene, it turns out there is more to this place than meets the eye. You will be able to explore now, although there isn’t really much. The Lost One on the western side is actually a merchant, and it will be selling two new recipes, for Pain Dore and the Gourmet Burger. Purchase them if you want (they aren’t going anywhere), then attempt to leave the place, only to be stopped by a spirit.
His name is B’st and he wants to help you, although he can’t really do anything in his current form. After some more scenes, you will eventually get inside the main building here. Once inside, check out the left room for a chest that contains a Walnut Cork, a new weapon for Resh’an. The northern path is blocked, so continue to the right. There will be a little side path here and if you look closely, something is sparkling on the ground at the end of it; this is a Sapphire Ore. At the end, to the west, there is a campfire, so make sure you rest and save your point, as well as cook up some food, if you’re running low. The northern room will contain the boss, so get ready for a tough fight.
How to Beat Meduso in Sea of Stars¶
Meduso can be a challenging boss, as it’s easy to get overwhelmed, especially in the second half of it. The main body here does not attack you at all, so the turn countdown here shouldn’t make you worry for an incoming attack. Instead, it will summon canisters that plug into the ground and ceiling. Each one will immediately come with Locks and will perform the attacks in the boss’ stead. The only catch is that these canisters don’t take damage, so if you want to stop the special attack, you have to break all the locks. Also, each canister is color-coded, and each color will always do the same attack.
All Meduso’s Attacks in Sea of Stars¶
As mentioned above, Meduso doesn’t attack directly, instead installing canisters around the room to do its work. Each canister is color-coded, with a set attack.
-
Install Canisters: This is the only thing that the main body will do during the battle. At first, it will usually just install two canisters, but as the battle winds down, it will start doing all four at once. The only thing you can do to stop this is use an attack that delays enemies’ turns, like Serai’s Disorient.
-
Energy Balls (Pink): The pink canister will have a special move with two Locks. Once its turn comes around and if you haven’t broken them, it will release some energy balls that hit a single character for some good damage. As with a lot of attacks, the block timing is right before the move’s impact.
-
Drill Attack (Light Blue): The light blue canister is another one with a two-Lock special move. It will conjure a drill that will attack a single party member three times, in a set pattern. It will probably do about the same amount of damage as the Energy Balls, although it might be a little less than that. You can time your block to all three hits.
-
Health Injection (Green): The green canister has a three-Lock move, and this is nothing but a heal on the main body. It doesn’t seem to heal for too much at full power, either, so it’s not a huge deal. If you want to stop any of the special attacks (other than the next one), then this is it.
-
Gas Breath (Light Blue): There will be another light blue-colored canister, but this one will have five Locks. It seems that Meduso only brings this out towards the end of the battle, once its face has been fully “revealed.” This attack will hit the entire party for around 90 damage, so it can be pretty bad, especially since it can be used more than once in a row, depending on the canisters in play.
Strategy for the Meduso Boss in Sea of Stars¶
This boss can be quite challenging, as well as annoying, depending on how you go at things here. There are two main strategies one can utilize against this boss, one of which is to concentrate solely on the main body. Since the canisters don’t take damage and you can only break their Locks to avoid the attacks, going straight after Meduso means that you can hit it with your best moves. The heal is fairly minor and you should definitely outpace it, as long as you stick to your guns. The only thing you need to watch out for is the Gas Breath, as that attack hits the entire party, so make sure you have some healing saved up for that.
The other strategy one can use in this boss battle is the slower method of actually breaking the Locks on the canisters, as they appear. The two lesser attacks aren’t that much of a problem, but the heal and the Gas Breath are definitely the bigger issues here. Of course, the even bigger problem is the fact that once the gas attack starts appearing, Meduso will be utilizing all four canisters at the same time, making the battle feel very hectic.
Valere can be a very important character in this battle, especially if you see multiple gas attacks coming your way. Use Lunar Shield to negate one of them (Gas Breath only hits once), lessening the damage you have to heal. Also, don’t neglect your Combos either in this battle, as all of your characters will have their Ultimates at this point, and those can help immensely in dealing damage to the boss. Resh’an’s ultimate, in fact, will also delay the enemies’ attacks, and even heal you! Resh’an also has his Ebb skill, which can break random Locks, and if you boost it, more Locks will be broken (up to a total of five, if you successfully perform the timed hit).
Once you finally bring down Meduso, head north for more scenes. You will finally get the final party member here, B’st. If you’ve found all other Combo Skills up to this point, the To the Teeth trophy/achievement will unlock. With B’st now in your party, you will be done with Cerulean Island, and the next destination will be the Sacrosanct Spires.
