Sons of the Forest

How to Heal in the Sons of the Forest

By
Craig Robinson

Sons of the Forest’s healing mechanic is rather troublesome to deal with. When you survive your helicopter crash, you will have little health. When you get into some unfortunate encounters with the tribes, you will have a few battles, and likely be short for health. And when you most certainly venture into the dangerous caves, you will certainly need a stockpile of meds to survive the encounter. One of the best ways to do that is to craft your own medicine or know where to look for meds. Here is how to heal and get meds in Sons of the Forest.

We will teach you how to heal and get medicine in Sons of the Forest.

How to heal in Sons of the Forest

As it stands, there are several ways to get health back in the Sons of the Forest

  • Medicine
  • Healing Mix
  • Healing Mix+

Medicine is your bog standard all-around great medicine tool. You will get these little pill containers all over the world. You will get some in the luggage boxes around your crashed helicopter, but, you can find more in wooden boxes and other containers around the island. Check inside the cave, the small camp, huts, and other points of interest.

However, these are fairly rare, so make sure you only use them when necessary.

How to make Healing Mix in Sons of the Forest

You will need to make your own for more reliable make-shift healing resources. Luckily, there are two healing resources with different degrees of effectiveness. Healing Mix and Healing Mix+.

  • Healing Mix: "Aloe Vera" iconAloe Vera, Yarrow
  • Healing MIx+: Aloe Vera, Horsetail, Fireweed

From our experience, Horsetail grows fairly commonly in the more dense parts of the forest area. You can identify it by the small green shoots with lots of thick fibres coming off it in all directions. Fireweed is also easy to stop, with it growing quite tall with purple flowers.

Meanwhile, Yarrow is fairly hard to identify, thanks to it being rather small, with the same white flowers. It looks almost identical to Chicory, albeit, Chicory is a taller plant. Yarrow tends not to spawn near other plants, making it hard to find. But, when you do find it, there is an abundance of it in that area.

Aloe Vera is by the far the hardest to find, with its thick pointy leaves typically spawning within ferns on the ground. It can make it very difficult to find it. Although, you can generally be on the right track to find Aloe Vera in the game by heading closer to grassy water sources. Aloe Vera tends to spawn in the nearby vicinity of any ponds, mini lakes, or streams that flow from the mountains. We found some spawn on the side of the stream flowing down to a large beach.

We have attached a few images of the plant locations to get you started on finding these plants.

(1 of 6) Walking along some streams to a beach leads to many Horsetails.
