Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Gunner

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot Netherworld hunters who are adept with guns. With their Evil Eye ability, they can pinpoint the distances and weaknesses of their targets, and can share that info with allies. Their skills are highly regarded, but they prefer to be alone to be able to concentrate.

The Gunner is unlocked as a playable unit upon reaching Fighter Rank 2 and Mage Rank 2. As the name suggests, you will want to have a gun equipped to this class at all times, as that is what they’re best with. They will have high HIT and SPD, the two stats necessary to deal damage with a gun. Although they become good with fists at their highest rank, their lacking defensive power prevents them from getting up close and personal with enemies. Their unique Evility, Assist, will allow allies following their attack to always hit, although properly built characters shouldn’t be missing their attacks in the first place.

Evilities

The Gunner’s unique Evility is called Assist, and it makes any attack after theirs cause allies to have 100% accuracy. This can be nice to have during the main story, but once you start building your characters properly, this Evility falls off a lot and isn’t really needed. Hawkeye makes it so when you attack an enemy more than 3 panels away, your accuracy will be 100%. The only use for this is with ranged characters, although bow and gun users should have enough HIT to never really miss in the first place, so this wouldn’t be so bad on a mage. Sniping will increase anyone equipped with a gun’s attack range by 2 panels, so anyone with that weapon should probably be using this.

Second Attack increases the attack of the unit with this by 30%, whenever they are in a Combo or Team Attack. Combining this with the Archer’s Support Attack Evility is a nice bet, since their additional attacks will help build up a combo very quickly. Flying Bullets makes it so when a gun is equipped, instead of just being able to attack in a straight line, the gun will pretty much act like a bow. Anyone with a gun should probably have this, since it does give them a wider attack range. Marking, the final common Evility, makes every subsequent ally that attacks after the character with this, will have their attack increased by 25%.

Evility Slots Effect Req
Assist Unique Register attack to give subsequent allies 100% accuracy Default
Hawkeye 3 When attacking an enemy more than 3 panels away, accuracy is 100% Rank 2 Gunner
Sniping 3 Attack range increases by 2 panels when gun is equipped Rank 3 Gunner
Second Attack 4 Increases attack by 30% when performing Combos or Team Attacks Rank 4 Gunner
Flying Bullets 3 Attack range becomes like a bow when gun is equipped Rank 5 Gunner
Marking 4 Register attack to increase attack of subsequent allies by 25% Rank 6 Gunner
