Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Undead

By
Jarrod Garripoli
Portrait Description
Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance Screenshot Dead bodies who were revived by the miasma of the Netherworlds. They are categorized as a race, but they technically aren’t a race. Because of their smell, they are generally hated, but they do have a cult following. Most are weak, but some are as strong as Overlords.

The Undead is unlockable once you reach Episode 3, when a quest titled Let’s Dance appears in the Quest Shop. To complete it, you need to hand in any ATK Monster weapon. The Undead is a decent monster class, as it is strong physically and has the option to almost maintain its own health, thanks to its unique Evility. It has great HP, ATK and DEF aptitudes, but lacks in a lot of the other stats, so stick them with an ATK Monster weapon. Also, a lot of the skills in the Undead’s set inflict Poison, except for one or two of them. When you combine this with one of their common Evilities, then you will deal increased damage to that enemy.

Evilities

The Undead’s unique Evility, Predation, makes it so the unit will recover up to 10% HP based on the damage dealt. Depending on the damage done to the Undead, which should be a bit lower than normal because of its defenses, the HP absorb should help them last longer without needing outside healing. Rifle Guard increases gun resistance by 20% and like all other similar Evilities, it’s better to ignore it and go with the corresponding Innocent instead. Poison Chance increases the damage dealt to units that have been poisoned by 100%. Considering Poison is a pretty common ailment and a part of many skills, this might be a good idea to toss on a character or two, especially if you go the ailment route.

Undead increases your defense by 50%, but all healing magic done on that unit will now damage them instead. As the description says, only healing magic will deal damage and all regenerative abilities, like Predation, will work normally. Regeneration will make the unit recover HP equal to 30% of the damage whenever they are attacked. While this isn’t going to save you from one-hit kills, it might help you recover enough HP to take more hits in the long run. Corpse Cannibal recovers 3% HP and SP of each unit you defeat while using it. If you defeat four units, then that’s a 12% heal to both HP and SP, then an additional 10% thanks to something like Predation.

Rifle Guard 3 Increases gun resistance by 20% Rank 2 Undead
Poison Chance 3 Increases damage dealt to poisoned units by 100% Rank 3 Undead
Undead 4 Increases defense by 50%, but reverse the recovery of healing magic Rank 4 Undead
Regeneration 4 When attacked, recover HP equal to 30% of the damage Rank 5 Undead
Corpse Cannibal 4 Recover HP and SP of units defeated x3% when defeating units Rank 6 Undead
