Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate

Fatalis

By
Vincent Lau

In the texts that survived the fatal era, there is spoken an Elder Dragon more powerful than any other Elder Dragon that came before and will ever come after. Those that came before, it vanquished with a gaze so horrifying it drove them insane, and fire so hot it melted entire kingdoms. And those that came after, it would come to rule in a ruthless tyranny determined by its brutal temper and merciless temperament.

For years uncounted, after Fatalis almost destroyed the world, it went into a sleep so deep that many other Elder Dragons rose in the vacuum it left behind; among them include the demon of volcanos and bottomless oceans, Dire Miralis, and the abomination from another plane, Yama Tsukami. But none were even a match for Fatalis.

The wrath of the world is upon all of humankind. The Elder Dragons that have survived Fatalis’s rule have only grown stronger. Can you do what the fallen could not? Can you, at long last, destroy the apocalypse itself?

Attacks

Fatalis is like a traditional building-sized boss. It will move slowly, and not attack terribly frequently unless enraged, but if you get hit, expect to die, or barely make it. Most of Fatalis’s attacks, because of how old this Elder Dragon is (it was the very first Elder Dragon in the franchise!), retain their outdated hitboxes of its entire body. So any attack where Fatalis is using its body to slam into you, steer clear of everything except the end of its tail.

Tail Whip: Fatalis will slam its tail onto the ground, then suddenly whip it around. Given how long the tail is, and how you cannot sever it, your best bet is to block, dive, or roll through. Or take the hit.

Crushing Bite: Fatalis will launch a series of explosive bites using powder similar to Teostra

The World Trembles: Fatalis will body slam into the ground. This causes tremors.

Burn the Air: Fatalis will scatter large amounts of explosive powder, like Teostra’s powder, around the area, and then cause a series of huge explosions around it.

Dance of Fire: Fatalis will breathe fire around the stage. Stay behind Fatalis by the hind legs and tail to avoid this attack altogether.

Snap and Drag: One of Fatalis’s more famous attacks for how it is timed. Fatalis will charge forward once, and then pause, and then charge again. The reason this attack is so deadly is because if you get hit by the first charge, the second charge is timed so that it will collide with you right as your invulnerability period (while you get up) ends, causing you to take even more damage and most likely become stunned.

Breakable Parts

Horn: Fatalis’s horns will have chips and one of the horns will be noticeably shorter. This is one of the only ways to reliably obtain the horns of the Fatalis.

Eye: Fatalis’s eyes will have scars over them. This is how you can reliably obtain Fatalis eyes.

Wing: The webbing will be tattered and scarred.

Breast: Fatalis’s chest will have large, light-colored scars across it.

Weaknesses

Elemental: Dragon
