Monster Hunter Rise

Training Area

By
Shane Williams

The Training Area is a place to safely try out new weapons without worrying about monsters lurking about.

Overlook of the Training Area.

How to reach the Training Area?

There’s two ways of reaching the Training Area. First of which is by going to the final tab of the start menu and clicking “Move Around Village” followed by “Training Area”. However, if you prefer to walk to the Training Area, then go to the Buddy Plaza which is across the bridge to the east of Kamura Village, then interact with the boat.

Available Weapon

  • Great Sword
  • Dual Swords
  • Lance
  • Charge Blade
  • Light Bowgun
  • Heavy Bowgun
  • Bow
  • Gunlance
  • Hammer
  • Longsword
  • Sword & Shield
  • Hunting Horn
  • Switch Axe
  • Insect Glaive.

Training Areas Purpose

The Training Area is an area that you’ll want to revisit solo or with friends regularly throughout the game, as it’ll allow you to test out how each weapon plays before jumping straight into a Village/Hub Quest without any knowledge on how the weapon works. This will also be a good chance to get a feel for the Wirebug attacks with each weapon, as they all play differently. Finally, you’ll also be able to take in your buddies into the training area and practice combinations with your Palamute.

Toadversary

As you enter the Training Area, you’ll notice a large Toad which is based on the Tetranadon in the center. This dummy responds to your attacks and can dish out some of its own attacks. You’ll be able to change the settings of the Toad to better fit your playstyle by speaking with Sekrei the Trainer at the entrance.

1. Projectile

If you have the Toad set to perform “Projectile”, then it’ll shoot out large bubbles of water which will knock you down if you get hit by them.

2. Stomp

If you have the Toad set to perform “Stomp”, then it’ll lift its feet up and stomp onto the ground which will knock you down if you’re nearby.

Shooting Range

There is Shooting Range which can be found to the right of the Toad. This can be used to better your accuracy, so you don’t spend most of your Hunts wasting all of your ammo. You can also adjust how the Shooting Range works by speaking with Sekrei the Trainer like with the Toadversary.

Cannons & Ballista

The final thing you can use in the Training Area is the Cannons & Ballistas which can be found up on the raised area. You’ll want to get a good amount of practice in with these, as you’ll be heavily using them in the Rampages.
