The Fake Message is a contract in a contract quest line that is pretty difficult to complete. This mission requires you to have mastery over stealth, and if you want the bonus rewards, you will need to time your movements perfectly. For most players, the quest will be a hassle as you will likely need to restart it several times, as it has quite a few pitfalls to catch you off guard. The guide below goes over how to follow the messenger unnoticed and how to navigate the Prince’s Palace without being caught.
The Fake message will only appear after you have completed The Trade Delegate.
When Does The Fake Message Contract Become Available?¶
The Fake Message will appear on the contract board after you have completed The Trade Delegate. This is the third mission in this contract line, making it a difficult one. When you are ready to take on the Fake Message, head to the bureau and grab it off the contract board. You will need to access the contract section of your menu afterward to track it.
How to Keep Undetected While Following The Messenger¶
To start this mission, you will head to an area outside of the Prince’s Palace. Once there, you will need to sit on the marked bench and wait for nightfall. Once it’s time, Basim will get up and use your Eagle Vision to spot the target. He will be glowing orange. Your task is to follow him without being noticed. This is a rather easy task at first. There are plenty of plants to hide in during the first part of the mission, where he stops to speak with two guards.
After he speaks with the second guard, he will head down an alleyway. You will see your bar start to turn yellow as he enters a restricted zone. Keep in mind that if the messenger sees you at any point, you will need to go back to the starting bench and wait for the next night to come. Climb the buildings and follow him from above. There will be a guard in your path. Assassinate him to clear the way forward. At the end of your path, you will see a flower cart. Dive into it. The target will now move to the gates of the Prince’s Palace, another restricted zone. On the right side of the gate is an area where you can easily climb up.
This is the most dangerous section of the mission, as there are guards everywhere. Drop down into the flowers beneath you and use them to follow the messenger. Make sure no guards are walking by you as you move. He will soon dip behind a wall; don’t follow him as he’s leaving a message. Once he walks off, sneak your way around to the table where he was standing and switch the message. All you need to do now is make your way out of the Prince’s Palace to complete the mission.
The Fake Message Rewards¶
Once you are outside of the Prince’s Palace, you will automatically get your rewards. You will receive 45 components, two Merchant Favor tokens, and two skill points. If you manage to complete the mission without being detected by the guards, then you will receive 65 Dirhams and two additional Merchant Favor tokens. Once you have your rewards, The Fake Message contract will be complete.
