Best Blacksmith Hammer Locations

When you reach the start of Chapter 3 in Like a Dragon: Ishin you’ll get access to Kurogane Smithing which is a place you will frequent a lot as this is where you’ll upgrade most of your equipment. You’ll soon find out that to craft specific rarities of certain equipment requires a material called Hammers. These come in five varieties: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Kiwami. This page will show you the best way to get each of the hammer types.

Kurogane Smithing is your one-stop shop for equipment.

Where to get Iron Hammers

This is the first hammer you’ll be using for all the basic (Dull) upgrades. These can be purchased at the Materials Vendor in Kurogane Smithing which can be found in Rakunai for 2,800 mon. If you don’t want to waste your hard-earned mon on them, you can acquire them from the following places.

  • Scarecrow Chateau - Basic Room 7 Reward (One-time reward)
  • Random loot drops from enemies
  • Hachisuga Sukeroku loot drop - Baptism by Fire Arena
  • Hayashi Shinnosuke loot drop - Baptism by Fire Arena

Iron Hammers are used for “Dull” grade gear.

Where to get Bronze Hammers

Bronze Hammers are required for creating equipment with the Fine (Green) grade and these can also be purchased from the Materials Vendor in Kurogane Smithing, but these will cost you a lot more with them being 2 ryo 4000 mon each. You can also find these at the following places.

  • Random loot drops from enemies
  • Scarecrow Chateau - Basic Room 8 Reward (One-time reward)
  • Unyuan (Gunman Dojo) Combat Training 1 (Repeatable)
  • 4,800 Arena Points at the Arena Shop
  • Hachisuga Sukeroku loot drop - Baptism by Fire, Arena
  • Hayashi Shinnosuke loot drop - Baptism by Fire, Arena
  • Kamata Harukaze loot drop - Barehanded Warrior, Arena
  • Takanenohana loot drop - Barehanded Warrior, Arena

Bronze Hammers are used for “Fine” grade gear.

Where to get Silver Hammers

Silver Hammers are required for creating equipment with the Good (Blue) grade. These can only be found as a drop or earned. You can find them from the following places.

  • Random loot drops from enemies
  • Found in random pots
  • Lottery Prize
  • 30,000 Arena Points at the Arena Shop
  • Tosenbo loot drop - Frenzy of Blades, Arena
  • Nitta Isao loot drop - Frenzy of Blades, Arena
  • Sakurada Nobukuni loot drop - Frenzy of Blades, Arena

Silver Hammers are used for “Good” grade gear.

Where to get Gold Hammers

Gold hammers are required to craft to craft equipment of the Great (Purple) grade. These can only be found as a drop or earned. You can find them from the following places.

  • Random loot drops from enemies
  • Found in random pots
  • Rare Lottery Prize
  • Loot drop, Banquet of Might, Arena

Gold Hammers are used for “Great” grade gear.
