Power is an important part of any combat focus game, with the desire to smash everything to pieces an important fantasy as we beat games. With games in the Souls-like niche presenting the most extreme form of punishment, it is only natural that players want to really push their builds as far as possible to give them the best possible chances of defeating the hardest content the games have to offer.
Lords of the Fallen has such features, which, for the most part, come from its runes and Umbral Eyes. While the eyes are few and far between, Runes are a very common part of the game, with nearly every type of enemy dropping a type of rune, which has different effects. There are many to get your hands on, and so it can take time to determine the requirements of the runes you want to use on a build. To assist here, we have made the best runes in Lords of the Fallen to help you identify the type of runes you may consider for various builds.
Best Runes in Lords of the Fallen¶
For the most part, the runes below are the best in Lords of the Fallen. Please see the table with the notes on the rune, the effects, and the slot you get it from. We will go into more detail on each one later in the guide.
Rune | Effect | Slot |
---|---|---|
Gravix | Increase weapon strength while two-handing | Weapon |
Relox | Charged attacks deal increased damage. | Weapon |
Dimexus | Increase physical damage while dual-wielding | Weapon |
Vaus | Increases Physical Damage | Weapon |
Crafter’s Essence | Reduces the weapon’s weight and stat requirement to 0 | Weapon |
Satus | Increase Holy Damage. | Weapon |
Belago | Temporarily decrease a struck enemy’s physical defense. | Weapon |
Tianarx | Increase Fire damage. | Weapon |
For the most part, the type of runes you will run is whatever will increase your build’s main damage tool. Fire and Inferno build will likely want to look into increasing their fire and holy damage to improve those weapon damage and spell power damage modifiers on their weapons. Meanwhile, those of you running dual fist weapons or daggers will likely want the dual weapon. The same applies to anyone dual-wielding two two-handed weapons with the Crafter’s Essence rune slotted, as it means you can dual-wield two mega weapons for some crazy dual great hammer combos. The other standout one on the list is the Relux rune. This is good since many of the great weapons builds use charged attacks as it offers the greatest damage for a lot of strength builds. Doing a full-charge attack can easily break the poise of an enemy and also deal maximum damage on your weapon. Increasing that ability awards the player with some great options. This will also scale with the dual weapon and crafters’ essence runes so that you can do a combo of all these runes. The Gravis for dual-handed also works for the charged attack combo to help cap out on that playstyle’s damage.
With that said, this concludes the best runes in Lords of the Fallen. You should know which of the runes you want to get your hands on and socket into gear for whatever builds you are running.
