One of the main features in No Rest for the Wicked is rebuilding the town, Sacrament. After the “tutorial” area and defeating the boss Warrick, you’ll gain access to Sacrament. At first, this town is a husk of what it used to be and clearly needs some work, which is where the Rebuilding Sacrament feature comes in. Before you can start this feature, you’ll need to complete the main quest “Sacrament”, and rest in the bed at the bottom of the rookery. When you wake up, speak to Danos who can be found just outside your room, and then find him again in the courtyard between the Rookery and the War Room. Speaking to Danos again will unlock the Rebuilding Sacrament feature. Read on to find out what this allows you to do, and what you need to complete the numerous tasks he has for you.
Sacrament Projects¶
Once you’ve been through Danos’ dialogue, you’ll have a huge list of projects to complete, some of which will have multiple upgrades. Each project allows you to rebuild and enhance the various facilities around Sacrament such as Whittaker’s Crafting Shack, Caroline’s Inn, or Fillmore’s Smithy to name a few. Every project will require some materials, which start as your basic materials, and as you progress through their upgrades, they will require harder-to-find resources. Outside of materials, you’ll also need to wait a specified amount of time for the project to be completed.
There are eleven projects to start with excluding each project upgrade and for the most part, you’ll be improving the merchants’ shops around town as well as a few quality-of-life shortcuts. Here is each project, what it does, and what you need to upgrade it.

Material Locations¶
In general, the way you get materials in No Rest for the Wicked is by gathering them with the required tools. These tools can be found in chests, purchased from the various traders in Sacrament, or as quest rewards. Note that the tools do have durability, so you may want to bring a backup of each tool provided you have the inventory space. Due to No Rest for the Wicked’s random map shifts, we can’t give you a guaranteed place to find the resource, but in general, you can find them by doing the following actions:
- Ores: Mine Ore Deposits with a Pickaxe.
- Wood: Chop down trees with a Woodcutter’s Axe.
- Clay: Interact with the digging spots with a Shovel.
To obtain the higher tier resources such as Iron Ore, and Spruce Wood you’ll need to go to a higher-level area and interact with their respective gathering spot there.
Best Early Upgrades¶
Although this is subjective, we recommend you unlock the tools first with the Workbench and Sawmill being the first, which can be unlocked by completing Whittacker’s Crafting Shack project to level 2. Next, go for Caroline’s Inn as you’ll need a way to heal yourself outside of food, and then get the Anvil from the Fillmore’s Smithy project. The next projects after these should either be Mira and Meri’s Tailor Shop or Eleanor’s Enchantment Shop and then finally, Gordon’s Pantry for the advanced meals and Stove. Save the Gallows Scaffolding and Rookery Elevator until last unless you really hate running.
