Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

Switch Changes

By
Jarrod Garripoli

With the port to the Switch, there are some changes to Super Mario 3D World that differ from the Wii U version. The majority of the actual content is unchanged, although some levels might be a little different, since the Switch lacks some of the Wii U’s features. Below are some of the bigger changes in the Switch version.

  • Amiibo functionality added.
  • You can now play multiplayer both local and online.
  • You can now play Captain Toad levels in multiplayer.
  • All of the characters move faster than they did in the Wii U version. This caused a few stages to have design changes to accomodate for this.
  • You can now skip cutscenes.
  • Whenever you collect a Green Star or Stamp, you will retain it if you happen to lose a life. Exiting the level or restarting it will still make you lose possession of any collectibles in that run.
  • A Snapshot mode has been added, accessible via down on the D-Pad. Stamps are used for decorations in Snapshot mode, since there is no Miiverse.
  • Propeller Platforms have been replaced by other things, since that required the microphone on the Wii U.
  • Chararcters can now roll in mid-air.
  • The entire game can be played with a Pro Controller, as some levels required the Game Pad on the Wii U.
