As the first world of Super Mario 3D World, don’t expect much in the way of challenging features. World 1 is a small grassy island that has some blocky bushes and a few small fields of flowers. You will find five normal courses, as well as an Enemy Battle and two Toad Houses. For those not familiar, Toad Houses are basically spots where you can gain a power-up for Mario, but you have to pick one of the two presents. The contents of the presents are random, so you won’t know if you’ll get a Super Mushroom, or the bigger prize, which is four power-ups.
The best thing to do, especially if you’ve never played Super Mario 3D World before, is to familiarize yourself with the controls. The Switch version moves a little faster than the Wii U version, so it might take a little bit to get accustomed to things. Other than that, there’s not much of a big difference between the two versions, in terms of content. Remember that power-ups are progressive in the game, meaning that what might be described isn’t what you might get. If your character is small, then they will receive a Super Mushroom first, then the designated power-up. You can also only store a single power-up for later use.
