Coal is an important resource to gather, but you might not know where to find it if you are just starting out in Conan Exiles. Luckily, it spawns in high numbers in the mountains of the Exiled Land and on the southern island on the Isle of Siptah map, making it a bit easier to find. The guide below goes over where to find Coal on both maps and what it’s used for.
Where to Get Coal in Conan Exiles¶
Coal is an extremely common resource in both the Exiled Lands and on the Isle of Siptah. You can generally find it near the center of the map in the Exiled Lands, especially around The Summoning Place. It can easily be distinguished from other rocks as it’s black in color. Other areas where you can find Coal are in the desert around The Den, and near the Wine Cellar dungeon.
If you are looking for Coal on the Isle of Siptah map, then you will find it around Steerman’s Watch and in the center of the southern island. It can also be found on the northeastern part of the map, giving you access to a deposit no matter where you choose to set up your base.
What is Coal Used for in Conan Exiles?¶
The primary use of coal is to power many of your crafting stations that use fire, like the furnace. Coal burns for much longer than bark and wood, making it one of the best ways to keep crafting going while you’re not at your base. In addition to this, Coal is used to craft charcoal at the Alchemist’s Bench and make the various types of warpaint in the game. You can also exchange 25 Coal at the Fluid Press for one Tar, although this is a waste of resources as Tar can be obtained through easier means. The final use is in making a Golem Crafting Schematic. This is an easy recipe that you will want to get underway as soon as possible as it only requires one Coal, four Bricks, and four wood to make. Outside of this, there really isn’t much use for the resource.
