This rainy route marks the beginning of Team Skull turf, although their HQ is still far from here. From the entrance, follow the cobbled road north. Soon, there will be a blue and white building above–this is the Po Town Police Station. Before stepping inside, go around the signpost and check the wooden box behind.
Peel off Totem Sticker #073 from the box, then hop into the police station. Inside, there are no police officers, unless the Meowths are them. Go over to the back and rip off Totem Sticker #074 from the side of the computer. Back outside in the rain, travel north-east towards the tall grass on the right side of the road.
If you follow the cobbled road north, you’ll run into a Team Skull Grunt standing near the end of a rocky outcrop. That way also leads directly to Po Town, which is your next destination. However, you should know better than to stick to the obvious road. Either way, feel free to catch the Grunt’s attention for a battle.
Team Skull Grunt¶
The Alolan Rattata takes massive damage from Fighting, and super-effective damage from Bug and Fairy. Meanwhile, Haunter is weak to Psychic, Ghost and Dark. Avoid the temptation to use Ground-types since it has the Levitate Ability.
While underneath the Grunt’s line of sight, head in an easterly direction, following the tall grass. Ideally you should keep to the north, where the grass hasn’t fully grown. After the tall grass ends, go up the slope to the east to reach the rocky highlands. Up here, search the outcrop immediately to the left for a hidden X Attack.
Next, zigzag your way through the tall grass, then go up the next slope towards the north. At the top, go left and pick up the nearby Lemonade. Afterwards, call Tauros and charge north through the boulders directly ahead. On the other side, wade through the wide patch of tall grass. Near the top, halfway across, is a Full Heal.
Moving on, head towards the west side of this plateau, then leap over the ledge below. To the south, there are two ledges you can jump from. Choose the left one first. After jumping, there are two set of ledges again. As before, jump over the left one. Go through the tall grass and retrieve TM80 Rock Slide.
Jumping over the next ledge will send you towards a very wide ledge, with only one possible exit. Down below, you’ll emerge to the east of the cobbled road, past the first Team Skull Grunt. At this point, you could sneak into Po Town by following the road. However, it would be a shame to leave the other ledges unexplored.
If you want to, make your way back to the top of the highlands, just before jumping over the first ledge. You can do so by heading south from the road, after jumping off the final ledge. Of course, if you didn’t battle the first Grunt, you’ll need to beat him to get past. Or you could fly back to Ula’ula Meadow and come from there.
When you’re back on top of the first ledge, jump over it, then jump over the next ledge on the right. Afterwards, pick up the Nest Ball near the center of the next pair of ledges. From here, you can either jump over the left ledge to battle a lonely Grunt or the right ledge to return back to the east side of the highlands.
Team Skull Grunt¶
A Poison lover it seems, like Plumeria. Mareanie is weak to Electric, Ground and Psychic. This one doesn’t have Water-type moves to take advantage of the rain, but does have Toxic and Venoshock. Grimer is weak to Ground only. This particular one only knows Dark-type moves.
Past the Grunt, you can jump south to reach the wide ledge, where you can leave the highlands. For your information, instead of jumping over the ledge that leads to the TM, if you jump over the right ledge, you’ll also reach the lonely Grunt. So there’s no reason to go back and try that combination of ledges, specifically.
Anyway, once you’ve explored enough of the highlands, head north from the very first Grunt. After you pass by the pair of black pillars along the side of the road (which could be broken streetlamps), watch out for a female Grunt patrolling the area up ahead. She walks in an elliptical path along the center of the road.
Team Skull Grunt¶
Pokémon | Level | Type |
---|---|---|
Ekans | 36 | Poison |
This snake Pokémon has the Intimidate Ability, which lowers the opponent’s Attack at the start of battle. This Grunt’s Ekans can use Gastro Acid to temporarily disable your Pokémon’s Ability, but that’s the only remotely scary thing it can do.
Around here, the towering wall of Po Town should come into view. Go over to the corner of the wall, towards the west. Where the wall meets the hillside, there’s a small boulder that is clearly intended for Tauros to trample over. Indeed, hidden behind the boulder, you’ll find Totem Sticker #075.
Further north, halfway along the massive wall, is the entrance to Po Town guarded by a pair of Grunts. Before bothering the Grunts, continue north while keeping towards the east. Beyond, there’s a thick area of tall grass. If you go through the grass, there’s a berry stack at the end that you can raid for extra-juicy berries.
Finally, approach the pair of Grunts; unsurprisingly, they’re not so keen on intruders.
Team Skull Grunt and Team Skull Grunt¶
Two Pokémon that can easily catch players off-guard. Pawniard is weak to Fire and Ground, and doubly weak to Fighting. Meanwhile, Scraggy is weak to Flying and Fighting, and doubly weak to Fairy. Fighting-types are clearly the way to go or you could drown them with Water.
After the battle, it seems like you cannot enter Po Town. However, as luck would have it, a strange individual comes to open the way for you. It goes without saying, but you’re entering enemy territory, so you’d best be prepared for anything.
