Walkthrough for Armorica Village during the main quest Monster Damage Investigation on Chapter 1 Day 1 in The Legend of Heroes: Trails From Zero.
After the toil of passing through the East Crossbell Highway and Old Armorica Road field dungeons you’ll finally reach your destination - Armoria Village.
When you arrive your party will comment on the town’s rustic charm, after which you’ll be free to explore.
Item | Location |
---|---|
EP Cut 1 (Quartz) | Found in a chest in a round barn next to the Village Chief’s House. |
Rustic Omelet Rice (Recipe) | Search the placard in the corner of the Ash Tree Inn. |
Fishing Rod | Talk to Kopan after meeting with the Village Chief. |
Back Alley Doctor Glenn - Ch. 2 | Talk to Old Man Reior in the Reior General Store after completing your investigation in Armorica Village. |
Meet the VIllage Chief¶
You can talk to various townsfolk if you wish, but you’ll need to do that soon enough to move the main questline along, so you might as well just make your way to the village chief’s house, which can be found along the northern end of the village. Cross a bridge to the north and go up two flights of stairs to find yourself just outside the chief’s house. Before you enter, head east and enter a small round building adjacent to the chief’s house and loot a chest to score EP Cut 1 Quartz.
Enter the chief’s house and you’ll eavesdrop on a conversation between the chief and an overly kind merchant. After the merchant leaves you’ll have the chief all to yourself, and when you’re done chatting you’ll have permission to snoop around the village.
Joining the Fishing Guild¶
After meeting the Village Chief, head back south to the town square. You should now find a man named Kopan fishing off a bridge, and if you talk to him he’ll induct you into the fishing guild, giving you a starting set of fishing gear in the process. This includes the Novice Rod, 10x Dumplings, 10x Earthworms and the Fishing Notebook. With these tools in hand you’ll be directed for a fishing spot to the east, which you can reach by heading to the end of the pier next to the Ash Tree Inn.
You don’t actually have to do any fishing at this time, but you must talk to Kopan and get the starter fishing gear before you’ll be able to advance the main questline.
That said… fishing is pretty simple and yields some nifty rewards. There’s also the You Won’t Like Me When I’m Angler-y achievement, which requires you to catch all 24 types of fish. While the act of fishing itself is simple - just press the button when a prompt appears over Lloyd’s head while fishing. We’ll point out when new fishing opportunities are available as you progress through the game, but if you want to see how to catch every fish in the game - a feat you can’t accomplish until Chapter 3 - check out the aptly named How to Catch all the Fish in Trails From Zero page.
If you want to give fishing a try (recommended), check out the Armorica Village fishing spot, below:
Armorica Village Fishing Spot¶
Fish | Bait |
---|---|
Armorica Carp | Deluxe Dumplings, Dumplings, Earthworm |
Raineater | Earthworm, Roe |
Rockeater | Earthworm, Roe |
Tiger Rockfish | Earthworm, Roe |
There’s only four types of fish in Armorica Village, and they can all be caught with Earthworms, which you could have farmed Berga Bugs for earlier. Just keep fishing until you’ve caught all four, as this will allow you to increase your fishing guild rank when you return to Crossbell.
Investigate Armorica Village¶
With that little fishing diversion out of the way, enter the Ash Tree Inn, which can be found along the eastern end of the village. Once inside, search the northeastern corner of the inn to find a placard hanging on the wall which will detail the local delicacy, earning you the Rustic Omelet Rice recipe in the process.
Once that’s done you’ll need to run around and talk to various characters to gain information about the monster attack:
- Harold, the overly polite merchant from the Chief’s house. Find him in a room upstairs in the Ash Tree Inn (first room to the south).
- Alfred, the innkeeper in the Ash Tree Inn. You’ll get a free meal out of this, as well!
- Keith, a redheaded man sitting at a table in the Ash Tree Inn.
- Elkin, another redheaded man (Keith’s got a clone!) near a truck by the entrance to Armorica Village.
- Donald, in a circular house northwest of the Ash Tree Inn. He’s sitting at a table.
- Old Man Reoir, who can be found near a honey display inside the Reior General Store (west of the Salt Tree Inn, adjacent to Donald’s house).
Talk to all those characters and, assuming you also talked to Kopan and received the fishing gear, you should trigger a scene where the party discusses what they’ve learned. You now just need to examine the bus sign near the village exit to move on, but before you do, there’s a bit more loot to gain.
Return to the Reior General Store and talk to Old Man Reior again and he should give you the Back Alley Doctor Glenn - Ch. 2 book. You can also talk to the man behind the counter - Jake - to do some shopping. Most of the stuff sold here is standard fare you can find anywhere, but you can pick up the Straw Hat accessory, a useful item that gives its wearer Spd+5, and the Model Orbal Car, a decorative object for Lloyd’s room. Can’t hurt to grab some Straw Hats, but if you do, stick to buying three, at most, as you can find one shortly.
Having concluded your investigation in Armorica Village, investigate the bus stop sign near the town exit, and after some good luck (and quite a bit of chatter) you’ll find yourself back in Crossbell.
