Great Plateau Floating Platforms

By
Vincent Lau

This page details all the floating platforms found in the Great Plateau region when playing Master Mode.

Locations of the floating platforms in the Great Plateau region.

To simplify things, we’ve split the platforms into two categories. The first are those that are well within the boundaries of the Great Plateau. Meanwhile the second are those that border another region. Platforms in the second category will also be listed in the other region’s section.

Within Great Plateau

Group 1

(1 of 2) You can use the bows and arrows dropped by the Bokoblins against them.

There are two platforms floating over a body of water between the Great Plateau Tower and Oman Au Shrine. Each is guarded by a Bokoblin and there’s a third Bokoblin by the edge of the water acting as a scout. All three can shoot Fire Arrows.

One of the platforms has a wooden chest with a Soldier’s Broadsword. What you can do is knock the nearest Bokoblin into the water (preferably with a Korok Leaf), then jump in and grab its bow. Afterwards, you can shoot down the platforms (although you may need arrows from elsewhere).

Note that you’re unlikely to retrieve the chest if it falls into the water. At least, not until you acquire Cryonis.

Group 2

(1 of 2) You can climb up nearby and snipe the Bokoblin before he realizes.

There’s a single floating platform near the easternmost part of the River of the Dead, along the north bank. It’s guarded by a Bokoblin that can shoot Ice Arrows. Behind the Bokoblin is a wooden chest with a Soldier’s Shield.

If you have a bow and arrows, you can shoot the Octoroks to bring the platform crashing down. To retrieve the chest, use Cryonis. Or save and reload to reset the platform, then jump to it from the river’s edge. Alternatively, you can directly snipe the Bokoblin from a nearby vantage point, before being noticed.

Group 3

(1 of 2) You need to press X to jump or you may miss the platform and die.

Directly opposite the previous floating platform, there are two floating platforms in front of the freezing waterfall on the south bank of the River of the Dead. The higher platform has a Bokoblin loaded with Bomb Arrows, while the second platform has a chest with a mighty Knight’s Claymore.

The safest way to reach the platforms is by gliding down from near the mouth of the waterfall. If you’re brave, you could jump down to the platform with the Bokoblin (after sniping him) and then jump to the next platform. Don’t shoot down the platform with the chest–it’ll sink and you can’t retrieve it!

Group 4

(1 of 2) It’s easier if you approach from the south bank of the river.

On the south side of the broken bridge at the westernmost part of the River of the Dead, there’s a lonesome platform. On it is a Bokoblin equipped with Shock Arrows and a wooden chest with a Soldier’s Bow.

Use a similar strategy for the second group of platforms. Namely, shoot the Octorok when the platform’s high above the water. Then use Cryonis or the save and reload trick to nab the chest. If you’re sneaky, you can also headshot the Bokoblin before he spots you and lifts the platform.

Bordering Great Plateau

Group Q

(1 of 2) These platforms are located near the west side of the Great Plateau.

Next to the waterfall coming from the River of the Dead, there are four floating platforms. You can glide down from the Great Plateau. Three of the platforms have Bokoblins with Ice Arrows. The highest platform has a Ruby, while the third platform has a Golden Claymore.
