The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Kah Yah Shrine

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

A guide on how to find and complete Kah Yah Shrine, located at Palmorae Ruins in the Faron region.

A Fragmented Monument: How to Find the Fragments

In order to unlock this shrine, you’ll need to complete the Shrine Quest A Fragmented Monument. You’ll be required to take photos of four fragments of the broken monument. Head over to our guide to find out exactly where to find all the fragments, they can be quite tricky to locate!

Once you’ve snapped a picture of all four pieces (including the main part near the NPC boy), speak to the boy again so he can decode the monument’s message. Then, kneel on one of the shrine platforms nearby by pressing in the left analog stick to complete the puzzle and reveal the shrine!

How to Complete Kah Yah Shrine: Quick Thinking

In this shrine you’ll find two puzzles, one is mandatory and one is optional. Luckily, the easier one is mandatory. Head to the left and place a barrel on the platform. As the platform goes along its route, make sure to move yourself and the barrel out of the way of the barriers. First, head to the left to avoid a barricade on the right-hand side. Next, crouch to avoid an overhead barrier. And finally, move yourself and the barrel to the right to avoid a barrier on the left. Once at the end, place the barrel on the button to open up a gate into a room with a treasure chest. Head into the room and loot the chest for a shrine key. At this stage you can just finish up the shrine by using the key to unlock the end room of the shrine and collecting your Spirit Orb. If you want a strong Royal Claymore weapon though, keep on reading for how to complete the next puzzle.

How to Get the Kah Yah Shrine Treasure Chest

To complete this puzzle you’ll need some arrows. We tried using bombs but its trickier to aim them and sometimes they explode too close to you causing you to fall off the platform - it’s not worth it! First off place the barrel on the platform and pass through the first arch, without shooting the orange crystal. As soon as you’ve passed through you’ll want to quickly shoot the crystal to cause the first gate to close and the second to open. Once you’ve passed through the second gate, quickly shoot the crystal again to close the second gate and open the final one. Once at the end of the platform’s route, place the barrel on the button to open up a gate to a new room. Inside that room you’ll find a treasure chest which you can loot for a Royal Claymore, which does 64 points of damage with Attack Up +12, and its also pretty durable! Worth it? We think so!

(1 of 2) Shoot the crystal at the perfect time to open and close gates
