Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

How to Find Moore and Complete his Quest

By
Matt Chard

One of the new NPCs added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC of Elden Ring is "Moore" iconMoore. Moore is a merchant who is devoted to "Needle Knight Leda" iconNeedle Knight Leda and her allies. Apart from selling goods to you, he also has a quest that spans the entire DLC, which will give you various rewards as well as more lore about what is happening in the Realm of Shadows. Read on to find out where you can find Moore, how you can progress his questline, and what rewards you will acquire by completing the quest.

Table of Contents

If you want to jump straight to a specific meeting, or perhaps see what rewards you get from finishing this Questline, check out the following table:

First Meeting - Main Gate Cross, Gravesite Plain

Your first encounter with Moore will be at Main Gate Cross site of Grace, situated in the northwest. This area can be accessed by following the path north from the "Gravesite Plain" iconGravesite Plain Grace and heading west at the intersection, passing the Three-Path Cross site of Grace along the way. The western path will eventually lead north where you’ll find the Main Gate Cross site of Grace along with Moore and "Sir Ansbach" iconSir Ansbach. Follow our Sir Ansbach’s Quest Guide if you want to do this as well.

Speak to the shy Moore, and he’ll open up his wares for you. To continue the quest, you’ll need to purchase something from him. Although he has plenty of useful items for sale, we recommend purchasing the "Note: Sealed Spiritsprings" iconNote: Sealed Spiritsprings for 1000 Runes, especially if you haven’t played the DLC before as this will explain to you what they are, and how you can use them. Once you’ve purchased something from Moore, you’ll have a dialogue option to talk to him.

You’ll find out that Moore is fond of finding things for people, especially if it’s for Leda and the Forager brood. After you’ve had the conversation with him, head over to Sir Ansbach and speak to him about Moore by asking him about the “person in the verdigris armor”, and he’ll give you some more lore on Moore as well as ask you to be kind to the Forager brood should you see them.

(1 of 2) Head over to the Main Gate Cross site of Grace situated south of Belurat, Tower of Settlement.

Second Meeting - Pillar Path Cross, Gravesite Plain

Next up is to find and speak to another NPC who goes by "Thiollier" iconThiollier. Make your way across the "Ellac Greatbridge" iconEllac Greatbridge which is situated to the northeast of the Three-Path Cross site of Grace. Just before you approach "Castle Ensis" iconCastle Ensis, you’ll find a path leading southeast. Take the path, and about halfway down, head off the path and continue east by going down the grassy slope. Here you’ll find Thiollier, who is sitting on a rock next to the Grace.

Speak to him and exhaust his dialogue before returning to Moore. After speaking to Moore regarding Thiollier, he’ll give you some "Black Syrup" iconBlack Syrup. Teleport back to Pillar Path Cross, and hand over the syrup to Thiollier. Make sure you do this as soon as you can because Moore may move, locking you out of some rewards.

Third Meeting - Forager Brood Cookbooks

There are seven Forager Cookbooks to be found in the Realm of Shadow, each unlocking a recipe. You can earn these cookbooks by seeking out the brood who roam the Realm of Shadow. The brood will be a Lesser Kindred of Rot, so if you find one out in the world, be careful about killing it. Not only will you not be able to get the cookbook, but if you kill two of them, Moore will invade you after giving you a warning for killing the first one. You can use this method to get Moore’s armor early, but you will miss out on other rewards. Here is where you can find each “brood”, and what cookbook you’ll receive for finding it.

Each of these cookbooks is marked by the number of their corresponding book number. For example, Cookbook 2 can be found in the southwest.

Fourth Meeting - Breaking the Great Rune, Shadow Keep

To begin this part of Moore’s quest, you’ll need to shatter the Great Rune. To do this, follow the path north of the "Highroad Cross" iconHighroad Cross site of Grace toward the Keep in the distance. As you get near it, you’ll hear a shattering sound followed by a message stating the Great Rune has been broken. This will break the enchantment on all the NPCs you’ve encountered so far and drastically change almost all of their quests, so make sure you’ve progressed their quests up to this part. Check out our NPC quest guides at the bottom of the page to find out who is affected by this.

After the Great Rune has been broken, head back to Moore at the Main Gate Cross site of Grace and speak to him. It appears that breaking the rune has caused Moore great despair, and he’ll ask you “Must we be sad forever?”. This next choice is important, so make sure you read the outcome of the choices below before you choose.

“Put it behind you”

Selecting this choice will make Moore leave the area where you’ll have to battle him in the final dungeon alongside Leda and her allies, which can be found just after the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom site of Grace. After defeating Moore in the battle, you’ll be able to loot his body in the arena after the fight which contains the following items: "Moore's Bell Bearing" iconMoore’s Bell Bearing, "Verdigris Greatshield" iconVerdigris Greatshield, and the "Verdigris Set" iconVerdigris Set.

“Remain sad forever”

This choice will make Moore drop deeper and deeper into despair and eventually die. Once you’ve rested at a site of Grace, you can find his body outside the "Church of the Crusade" iconChurch of the Crusade where you can acquire his equipment, which contains the following: Moore’s Bell Bearing, Verdigris "Greatshield" iconGreatshield, and the Verdigris Set. Because of his death, he won’t be in the Leda and Allies battle in the final dungeon, thus making it easier to beat.

“I don’t know”

Choosing this option will cause Moore to stay where he is. Select this if you haven’t acquired all the Forager Cookbooks yet, and you’ll get another chance to decide on one of the other options later.

(1 of 2) Telling Moore to “put it behind him” will have him battle against you in the Leda and allies fight in Enir-Ilim.

Telling Moore to “put it behind him” will have him battle against you in the Leda and allies fight in Enir-Ilim. (left), After the battle, you can search his corpse for his equipment. (right)

That’s it for Moore’s quest. The choices at the end reward you with the same stuff, so it all depends on whether you want Moore being part of the battle with Leda and her allies, which will make the battle more difficult. However, if you don’t want the extra challenge, tell him to “remain sad forever” and pick up the items from his corpse near the Church of the Crusade.
