Thiollier is a new NPC added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC of Elden Ring. Like all the new NPCs added with the DLC, Thiollier too has a quest that will run alongside the main story of the DLC. Thiollier is a devotee of St. Trina while also being a master of poisons, which makes him an interesting character, to say the least. Read on to find out where you can find Thiollier every step of the way, as well as what rewards you can acquire depending on the choices offered.

First Meeting - Pillar Path Cross, Gravesite Plain¶

The first place you’ll find Thiollier is at the Pillar Path Cross site of Grace, southeast of Castle Ensis. From the Graveyard Plain site of Grace, head east until you reach a path, and then follow the path north/northwest until you reach the Three-Path Cross site of Grace. Here, you’ll find another two new NPCs (Redmane Freyja and Hornsent) who both have a quest that spans the main story, so make sure you start them while you’re here. From here, take the northeastern path and go over the Ellac Greatbridge toward Castle Ensis. Just before you get to the castle, there’ll be another path to the southeast. Take the path and follow it down until you spot a slop off the beaten path heading further southeast. This is near where the path begins to curve south. Continue heading southeast, and you’ll find the Pillar Path Cross site of Grace alongside Thiollier who’ll be sitting on a nearby rock.

Speak to Thiollier to find out that he is tarnished and is following Kindly Miquella’s path (as are all the NPCs), although he does appear to be troubled. Talk to him some more and he’ll tell you that he has a knack for making poison-related concoctions, which will unlock him as a merchant where you can purchase various…poisons. Make sure you exhaust his dialogue and then make your way to the Main Gate Cross site of Grace outside Belurat, Tower of Settlement to the west.

Second Meeting - Main Gate Cross, Gravesite Plain¶

Before you can continue with Thiollier’s quest, you’ll need to speak to another NPC who goes by the name, Moore. Teleport back to the Three-Path Cross site of Grace and take the western path that leads north. This will take you to the Main Gate Cross site of Grace where you’ll find Moore, and Sir Ansbach. Speak to Moore and exhaust his dialogue until you can ask him about Black Syrup. This option only appears after speaking to Thiollier. Once you’ve obtained the syrup, head back to Thiollier in Pillar Path Cross, hand it over to him, and select the “I’m weary of life” dialogue option to acquire Thiollier’s Concoction. Whatever you do, do not drink this! Once you’ve done this, more can be purchased for a steep 30,000 Runes.

What does Thiollier’s Concoction Do?¶

This concoction is used in the Dragon Communion Priestess quest, which is situated at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion near Jagged Peak in the southeast. For now, keep hold of the concoction, but don’t accidentally use it!

Third Meeting - Breaking the Great Rune, Shadow Keep¶

Make sure you’ve progressed the NPCs quests up to the point of the breaking of the Great Rune otherwise some will become locked. Once you’ve done this, make your way through Castle Ensis, and after you defeat the boss there, you’ll be in Scadu Altus. Follow the path north from Castle Ensis, and you’ll find the Highroad Cross site of Grace to the right of the path. Here, you’ll find Needle Knight Leda and Hornsent. Continue following the path north and as you get nearer to Shadow Keep, you’ll hear a “shatter” sound and a message following it stating that the Great Rune has been broken. With the enchantment lifted from the NPCs, most of them will come to terms that they don’t actually follow Miquella, and things will begin to change. The Great Rune broken, head back to Thiollier at Pillar Path Cross to start a fresh conversation, where he’ll reveal that he’s haunted by reminiscences of St. Trina, and that he just wants to see her one more time. Fortunately, you can make his wish a reality, but you’ll need to head to the Stone Coffin Fissure first.

Fourth Meeting - Stone Coffin Fissure, Cerulean Coast¶

The Stone Coffin Fissure can be found on a peninsula on the southern tip of the Cerulean Coast. From the Cerulean Coast site of Grace, head as far south/southwest as you can go, which will take you to the southern tip of the coast. In the southeast of the peninsula is The Fissure site of Grace, as well as a tunnel leading to the Stone Coffin Fissure. This will be blocked if you haven’t broken the Great Rune, so make sure you’ve done that before coming here.

You’ll need to make your way through the entirety of the area until you reach the Fissure Depths site of Grace. Atop the nearby large stone coffin, you’ll see a ghost by the edge. Prepare for a boss battle and take a leap of faith to where you’ll encounter the Putrescent Knight boss. Defeat the boss and interact with the Garden of Deep Purple site of Grace before heading through the tunnel to find a purple figure, St. Trina. Interacting with her will allow you to “imbibe nectar”, but selecting this will kill you. However, you’ll need to do this four times before St. Trina will “talk” to you. Do this two more times until she tells you to kill Miquella, and grant them forgiveness. This is the extent of her dialogue.

Now head over to Thiollier where it’s clear he’s also imbibed the nectar, but unlike you, he can’t hear her words. Pass on the words you received from her to Thiollier, who won’t like what you have to say and won’t believe you. Tell him again, which leads to him threatening you. Return to the Garden of Deep Purple, site of Grace, and rest. This will get you invaded by Thiollier, and upon defeating him, reward you with the St. Trina’s Smile Talisman.

After defeating Thiollier, head back to the room with St. Trina and speak to him again. If he doesn’t respond to you, rest at the site of Grace and try again. If that fails, imbibe the nectar one more time. Once again, tell him what St. Trina told you, and he’ll finally believe you. That will be it for this part of the quest, but this allows you to summon him for the Leda and allies battle in the final area and against the last boss of the DLC.

Fifth Meeting - Enir-Ilim¶

Progress through the DLC, summon Thiollier for the Leda and allies battle, continue, and defeat the last boss with his aid. Upon defeating the last boss, rest at the Gate of Divinity site of Grace (Grace before the final boss), and you’ll find Thiollier’s slumped-over corpse to the northeast where you can loot his body. This will reward you with the following items: Thiollier’s Hidden Needle, Thiollier’s Mask, Thiollier’s Garb, Thiollier’s Gloves, and Thiollier’s Trousers. Collecting these items will conclude Thiollier’s quest.
