Shadow of the Erdtree is the first major DLC for Elden Ring and with that comes many items, equipment and secrets. Great Katana are one of the new weapon types you can find out in the Realm of Shadow and on this page, we’ll provide you with the locations of all three weapons.

There are only three Great Katana’s weapons to be found in the world and they are the following: Great Katana, Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana and Rakshasa’s Great Katana.

The Great Katana can be found on a corpse that’s laying in the pool of water to the west of the Greatbridge, North site of grace (North of Gravesite Plains). It has the special skill Overhead Stance which allows you to start with the blade held high in a ready stance. If you execute a normal attack from this stance to step forward and slash downwards, or a strong attack to deliver a series of downward slashes.

The Dragon-Hunter’s Great Katana can be obtained via defeating the Ancient Dragon-Man. You can find him by traveling east until you reach the first fork in the path and stick to the left, then take the right path at the second fork in the path. When you reach the third fork in the path, stick to the right and follow the statues ahead until you get invaded by Ancient Dragon-Man. This weapon has the special skill Dragonwound Slash that cloaks the armament with a jagged gravel-stone aura before performing a high leaping slash. If you charge the attack then it’ll fire off the aura.

Rakshasa’s Great Katana Location¶

The Rakshasa’s Great Katana can be obtained via defeating Rakshasa who can be found in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum. If you haven’t accessed this area yet, then you can do so by starting at the Storehouse, First Floor site of grace in the Shadow Keep and taking the elevator down to an area full of burning boats. Head east and pay close attention to the left side of the platform, as you’ll find a ladder you can climb down. Walk through the waterfall and climb down another ladder, then enter the room with a painting and attack the wall to reveal a hidden room. From here, head down to the bottom of the path and interact with the coffin to be transported to a secret portion of Scadu Altus.

You’ll now want to follow the path directly to the south, then hop onto the horse and drop down to the area below via the stone coffins. Finally, head northeast to reach the Mausoleum and then defeat Rakshasa for the weapon! This weapon has the special skill Weed Cutter which allows you to perform scythe-like horizontal swings with the sword.
