Spendthrift In battle, spend one Gold Bar to increase damage output by +10 points and mitigate damage by -10 points

The Merchant statwise pales in comparison to many other offensive classes, but combining Profiteer and Spendthrift together creates a character who can pump out damage when equipped with enough Gold Bars (get more Gold Bars by regularly feeding Lilith in MyCastle as well). Spendthrift can also be combined with the Master of Arms skill Life or Death for even more damage!

Altogether the Merchant isn’t a class that you probably want to stay in, but zooming through to pick up its skills can definitely increase the offensive prowess of your characters as they transition into other, more powerful classes.
