How To Get & Use Depulso In Hogwarts Legacy

By
Jacob Woodward

If you’re making your way through Hogwarts Legacy, you’ve likely learned a new spell or two. "Depulso" iconDepulso is one of these, but it’s not made as clear as other spells for when to actually use it.

This guide will take you through how to use Depulso effectively so you can enjoy its benefits and see if it’s worthy of a place in your go-to spells.

When Do You Learn Depulso In Hogwarts Legacy?

Depulso is one of the early spells that you learn in Hogwarts Legacy. It’s a spell you pick up from Professor Sharp, the Potions class teacher.

Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1 Quest description

For when you actually learn it, this requires you to complete Professor Sharp’s Assignment 1. This is a Side Quest so you’ll need to seek it out to complete it as it’s not technically required to complete the main story of the game.

You’ll get the chance to play through this Quest pretty early on so keep an eye out for the Professor’s message in your Owl Post.

How To Use Depulso Effectively In Hogwarts Legacy

If you’ve got Depulso equipped and are wondering how you actually use this spell, you’re not alone here. This is because Depulso isn’t exactly one of the most explosive of spells, especially in the heat of battle.

Using Depulso in Hogwarts Legacy

While you might have expected this since it’s a Control spell rather than a Damage spell, if you’re reading this guide, you’re likely one of the large number of wizards or witches that are wondering what its actual use is then.

Well, during our playthroughs, we actually used Depulso a bunch. This is due to the fact that it can be extremely helpful in situations where there are multiple enemies to dispatch. In cases like these, you can cast a quick Depulso to knock them back and allow you a little more room.

What this will also do is possibly give you a window of opportunity to drink a "Wiggenweld Potion" iconWiggenweld Potion and fully heal up, or throw a "Chinese Chomping Cabbage" iconChinese Chomping Cabbage or two down to get rid of remaining foes nice and quickly.

Depulso Mastery in Hogwarts Legacy

Moreover, if you choose to drop a Talent Point into Depulso, you can bolster its effects even further. Adding "Depulso Mastery" iconDepulso Mastery to your arsenal will allow you to make further annoyance to your enemy’s advances by causing a larger push back, hitting multiple adversaries at a time.

There are plenty of encounters in the game where you’re up against a flurry of foes so Depulso is always nice to have in the back pocket just to alleviate some of the pressure.

Overall, we think Depulso can certainly be effective in certain situations but naturally, it’s not one of the strongest spells out there. We recommend probably putting it on a secondary spell set if you don’t have enough room on your primary one, or simply using it as a back up if you’re backed into a corner by lots of enemies.

Finally, there are puzzles where you’ll be needing Depulso to help you out, or even a requirement. For example, there are Depulso Puzzle Rooms in Hogwarts itself which you cannot even enter unless you have the spell. So, it’s worth doing the Side Quest even if you don’t think the above info will encourage you to use it in battle.
