Hogwarts Legacy

Should you Give Garreth the Fwoopy Feather - Potions Class

By
Nathan Garvin

After completing the main quest Secrets of the Restricted Section you’ll end up doing a another short main quest, Tomes and Tribulations, which is mostly talking. After this, you’ll attend more classes, where you’ll learn about Herbology and, following that, Potions. This page will walk you through the main quest Potions Class in Hogwarts Legacy and cover what happens if you help - or refuse to help - Garreth Weasley.

How to Complete Potions Class in Hogwarts Legacy

Finish the quest Herbology Class, after which you’ll unlock this quest. Travel to The Library Annex in Hogwarts using the aptly named Potions Classroom Floo Flame and enter the aforementioned classroom, where Professor Sharp will start expounding upon the hazards and benefits of potioncraft. After he’s done you’ll be tasked with retrieving some ingredients, "Ashwinder Eggs" iconAshwinder Eggs and "Dark Mongrel" iconDark Mongrel Fur, specifically, which are required for your in-class assignment - brewing an "Edurus Potion" iconEdurus Potion. This also unlock the recipe for Edurus Potions going forward.

Make your way towards Professor Sharp’s office, where you’ll be intercepted by Garreth Weasley, who has a request to make. He wants you to get him a "Fwooper Feather" iconFwooper Feather while you’re back there - a cheap ingredient that Professor Sharp won’t even miss… but not so cheap that Garreth Weasley is willing to ask for permission.

(1 of 3) Whatever your choice, brew an Edurus Potion,

What Happens if You Give Garreth Weasley a Fwooper Feather?

If you decline Garreth’s request he’ll be… surprisingly understanding, opting instead to achieve his mischief some other way. If you agree, be sure to grab the Fwooper Feather from atop a desk while you’re in Professor Sharp’s office. Its large size and purple color should make it hard to miss. After you collect all the ingredients you need, give Garreth Weasley the feather he desires.

Whether you gave Garreth Weasley the Fwooper Feather or not, you’ll next have to brew an Edurus Potion. This is a simple, entirely menu-driven task, just select the desired Edurus Potion, and, assuming you have the ingredients, you’ll make one up automatically. Brewing potions does take time, however - 30 seconds in the case of an Edurus Potion. Once the potion is done brewing, you’ll hear a commotion. Looks like Garreth Weasley got ahold of a Fwooper Feather, after all, with dramatic, if harmless, consequences.

Talk to Professor Sharp and if you helped Garreth Weasley “brew chaos”, he’ll call you out on it, although you can regain some respect by admitting to your part in the affair. Either way, he’ll congratulate your competence, after which the quest will end. Ultimately your relationship with neither Garreth Weasley nor Professor Sharp is affected by your choices during this quest.

It’s worth noting that going forward you can use one of the potion stations in this classrooms to mix potions, should you have the need. You’ll find a better place to brew potions when you gain access to the Room of Requirement, but having an early alternative certainly doesn’t hurt!
