Description¶
Based heavily on the African Savannah this area is the sandiest environment in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Its opening areas are largely by the numbers, small environments not too dissimilar in size to the environments of the Deserted Island.
Head to its later areas, however, and the Sandy Plains offer some of the largest ground based environments in the game – great open sand seas that put a toil on the senses.
Indigenous Monsters¶

Survival Tips¶
It’s crucial to note the time of day when entering the Sandy Plains, as adventuring during the day requires a Cold Drink , whereas coming here at night asks for a Warm Drink .
Other than that it’s just a case of never taking a rock for granted, as much of the scenery here will fall down should a large creature even sniff on it.
Shortcuts & Secrets¶
Base Camp to Area 7: In the south-west of the Base Camp there is a secret tunnel that leads to area 7. This shaves off quite a bit of jogging if you’re after one of the larger creatures, or even getting to the Jaggi nest.
Fragile Rocks: Many of the Sandy Plains’ larger features, from sand pillars to ants nests, are actually rather unsafe and will be bowled over by larger creatures.
Veggie Elder: The Veggie Elder wanders around the Base Camp, in clear view.
