Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Kill Charles or Promise Nothing?

By
Scott Peers

What to Say to Count Odo: Kill Charles or Promise Nothing?

“I will kill Charles.”

If you commit to killing Charles in the presence of Count Odo, he will hold you to this to the end of the story. If you don’t intend to kill Charles and want to keep your honor with Odo, you should instead promise nothing. If you’re certain that you want Charles dead and want to gain favor with Odo, you can pledge here that you will kill Charles, but this will greatly upset Richardis and Bernard later.

“I promise nothing.”

If you’re not sure whether Charles deserves to die yet, we recommend that you choose this option. There’s a bit more to learn about Charles yet, and there’s no need to pledge anything to Count Odo at this point in the story.

What to Say to Richardis: Spare Charles, or Charles Must Die?

“I will spare Charles.”

Eivor promises Richardis that if he’s able to spare Charles, he will. This reassures Richardis and reinforces her view that her god is working through Eivor.

“Charles must die.”

Eivor states that Charles must die to ensure the safety of his clan. This isn’t something Richardis wants to hear, but she is certain that Eivor will do the right thing when the time comes.

At this point it doesn’t matter much which option you choose. What will matter is what you actually do when fighting Charles.
