What to Say to Sigfred During Skal!

What to Say to Sigfred in the Longhouse

When you enter the longhouse and speak with Sigfred a cutscene will begin, during which Eivor will have the following dialogue options:

“We are warriors.”

“We need not fight to feast.”

“This is a celebration for our dead.”

It doesn’t matter which of these dialogue options you choose, as the outcome will be the same. At this point Sigfred is impossible to reason with, blinded by grief and a voracious desire for revenge.

What Happens if You Fight Sigfred?

After the scene in the longhouse, you’ll meet Sigfred by the burial mounds in Melun. Here you’ll find that he’s looking for a fight with Eivor, goading you into it. You can choose to fight Sigfred here, or calm his rage with words. If you want to fight, choose the second dialogue option each time. If you want to calm Sigfred with words, choose the first dialogue option each time. This will result in him leaving the clan, stating that he will set out alone to find a new way.

If you do choose to fight Sigfred, it will result in his death. Toka will appear to say a few words over the body, and a funeral will be held shortly after. Toka will forgive you for killing Sigfred, but the deer appearing on the hillside will serve as a reminder that calming him was always an option, which could have spared Toka her grief.

Regardless of the outcome, once Sigfred is gone, Toka will be left to lead the clan.

This isn't true. If you choose the first option first and the second option next, choosing to fight Sigfred, he will die. Toka isn't upset with you and does still take over, but the way that is worded is as though he lives either way- which isn't the case. If you choose to fight him, he will die.

Hi Tippelodeon, thanks for pointing this out.

It looks like this was an oversight on our part. I seem to recall during our save to kill Sigfred that he interrupts the fight halfway through, as he states the madness of it, before parting ways. I'm unable to verify this at the moment though, and I can see that he does indeed die in other sources that I've just checked.

In any case, I've now corrected the text to reflect the death outcome. I'm really sorry if this led you to an outcome for the quest that you didn't want. Thanks to your comment this should be avoided for new readers.
