All Vessel Locations

By
Ben Chard

There are many different pieces of equipment you can find and collect in Black Myth: Wukong and Vessels are completely hidden until you go through and complete the first secret area in Chapter 1, indeed it’s possible to reach Chapter 5 before even unlocking one. These are special accessories that often have an effect that makes that specific Chapter’s final boss a bit easier. Keep reading to learn where you can find all four Vessels!

The Fireproof Mantle is just one of four Vessels you can find in Black Myth: Wukong.

Fireproof Mantle Location

As you progress through Chapter 1, you’ll start coming across large bells that you can ring. If you find and ring all three bells, you’ll get whisked off to the secret area of Chapter 1, at Ancient Guanyin Temple. There’s not much to do here besides opening some chests and then proceeding forward to take on Elder Jinchi, after which you’ll be taken back to where you were and can interact with the hanging body to obtain the "Fireproof Mantle" iconFireproof Mantle.

You’ll need to find and ring three bells in Chapter 1 to reach the secret area that houses the Fireproof Mantle.

This is useful against the Black Bear Guai boss at the end of Chapter 1, as he’ll use many fire-based attacks against you and the arena will catch fire near the end of the battle. Additionally, there’s a hidden chest in Chapter 5 that requires you to have this equipped as you’ll need to run across the lava, inside you’ll find some Kun Steel.

Wind Tamer Location

Continuing the trend of secret areas in each Chapter, you’ll have to complete a lengthy questline in Chapter 2 to reach the Secret Area: Kingdom of Saheli. Not only will you have to complete the Man in Stone Quest but also the entirety of the Drunken Pig Quest, at which point you’ll be transported to this new area.

There are two bosses for you to defeat here, “"Tiger Vanguard" iconTiger Vanguard” at the start and then, following some scenes, a tussle with "Fuban" iconFuban, a foe who looks tougher than he actually is. Upon defeat of Fuban, you’ll obtain the "Wind Tamer" iconWind Tamer, the second Vessel in Black Myth: Wukong. This Vessel will allow you to stop the winds in the battle against the Yellow Wind Sage at the end of Chapter 2.

Weaver’s Needle Location

You’ll have to wait a while before you can get your hands on the next Vessel, as although there is a secret area in Chapter 3, this is not accessed until the very end of your first playthrough. With that in mind, the next Vessel is actually from the secret area, Purple Cloud Mountain, that is unlocked near the end of Chapter 4.

(1 of 2) You’ll need to defeat the Venom Daoist in two different locations in Chapter 4.

You’ll need to defeat the Venom Daoist in two different locations in Chapter 4. (left), This will open the way to the secret area in Chapter 4 where the Weaver’s Needle can be found. (right)

You’ll need to find, and defeat, the "Venom Daoist" iconVenom Daoist in two different locations, the Webbed Hollow, and the Temple of the Yellow Flower. You’ll find him to the right of the Pool of Shattered Jade Shrine in the Hollow, while you’ll need to head back on yourself from the Court of Illumination Shrine and take the left path to reach him at the Temple. Beating him both times will reveal the path to the secret area, and should you defeat "The Duskveil" iconThe Duskveil at the end, you’ll obtain the "Weaver's Needle" iconWeaver’s Needle.

Plantain Fan Location

The final Vessel is actually the easiest to get your hands on, and is the only one in the game that is not optional. Once you finish the events at the end of Chapter 5, you’ll obtain the "Plantain Fan" iconPlantain Fan in the post Chapter rewards screen, ready for use as soon as you start Chapter 6.

If the Plantain Fan is the last Vessel that you’re missing by the time you obtain it, you’ll obtain the Treasure Trove Trophy/Achievement at the same time, congratulations!
