Black Myth: Wukong

Unlocking Chapter 3 Secret Area: Mount Mei

By
Ben Chard

Black Myth: Wukong features many secrets throughout your journey, such as the secret areas that can be found in each Chapter of the game. You may have been wondering whatever happened to the secret area of Chapter 3, seeing as every other Chapter had one. The answer is, it’s part of the requirements for the game’s secret ending and you’ll need to wait until Chapter 6 to reach it. Keep reading to learn all of the requirements for unlocking this secret area!

You will need to fulfill a lot of conditions to reach Chapter 3’s Secret Area: Mount Mei, in Black Myth: Wukong.

How to Reach Secret Area: Mount Mei

Although you can reach the location of the entrance to Chapter 3’s secret area when you first head through the Chapter, it’ll be an empty room until you have reached Chapter 6, this is due to you needing to add the murals to the back walls of The Great Pagoda. With that said, you’ll need to take the following steps:

The Chapter 1 Secret Area requires you to complete the Bell Ringing quest, of which there are three to find throughout the area. Upon ringing of the third, you’ll be transported to the secret area and a battle against the "Elder Jinchi" iconElder Jinchi. Chapter 2’s Secret Area is a bit more involving, requiring you to complete the Drunk Pig’s quest and then defeating "Fuban" iconFuban at the end of it. You can find out more details on each of these by hitting the links above.

(1 of 3) Chapter 2’s Secret Area takes you to the Kingdom of Saheli.

Although you won’t be able to reach Chapter 3’s Secret Area the first time around, you still need to complete the Treasure Hunter’s quest, which culminates in a battle against him and unlocking the "Spell Binder" iconSpell Binder spell. You can do this at any point, there is no lockout on this Quest so feel free to come back and do this just before reaching the Secret Area.

Finally, you’ll need to clear the Secret Areas in both Chapter 4 and 5, and these are far more simpler to unlock than the earlier Chapters. For Chapter 4, you’ll need to find the "Venom Daoist" iconVenom Daoist in two locations and beat him, he’ll reveal the location to Purple Cloud Mountain after the second battle. Chapter 5 requires you to complete the Five Element Cart Quest, which the majority of which are on the main path, only the final Cart can be tricky to find. As always, click the links in the list above for a more detailed walkthrough on these.

The Great Pagoda Location and Mount Mei

With all of the above done, you’ll now need to reach Chapter 6 and return to The Great Pagoda. If you’ve yet to find this area, simply head to the Pagoda Realm - Snow-Veiled Trail Shrine and instead of taking the stairs up, continue to the right and across a bridge, you’ll eventually reach the Great Pagoda that you can enter. If you were here earlier in the game (there’s a convenient Shrine here), you may have noticed it being completely empty.

(1 of 3) Cross the bridge to the right of the Snow-Veiled Trail in the Pagoda Realm.

Take a look now, however, and you’ll spot murals across all of the walls at the back, save for the one in the center. Head up the stairs and over to this wall to trigger a scene, after which you’ll cross over to Chapter 3’s Secret Area, Mount Mei. There’s not much to do here, save for heading up the mountain to reach a Shrine, at this point, prepare yourself. Black Myth: Wukong’s secret boss awaits up ahead and is the toughest challenge you’ll face, beat him though, and you’ll have fulfilled all of the conditions for the true ending, congratulations!
