There are four Glider challenges in Sunset Overdrive and as you might expect from the title, they let you control the glider for various functions. There are two types of challenges here – movement challenges, in which we need to fly the glider through a series of rings in and around obstacles and destruction challenges in which we need to shoot and destroy as many floating mines as possible within the designated time limit.
Just as a quick refresher - you will need to keep the glider powered up, which means seeking out and flying through steam and smoke columns regularly to prevent it from crashing!
Glider Challenge #1¶
This level is fairly straight forward. You essentially need to cut big laps around the mission area whilst trying to keep your distance from the mines whilst also spamming the fire button as soon as you see your reticule lock onto a mine in order to destroy it.
This is an extremely easy challenge and as long as you are regularly firing off your weapons, you’ll have the gold before you know it. Just remember to keep an eye on your energy meter and ensure that you fly over some steam/smoke to refill it as necessary.
Medal | Score | Reward/s |
---|---|---|
Bronze | 6,000 | $ 200 |
Silver | 7,000 | $ 800 |
Gold | 8,500 | 1,000 x Overcharge |

Glider Challenge #2¶
This challenge is similar to the traversal challenges in that we need to make our way through a series of white rings in a predetermined route whilst racing against a time limit. The difference being in this case, you’re flying the glider instead of hoofing it on foot. Note that like the traversal challenges, if you miss a ring, you will need to go back and get it as no additional rings will appear unless you go through them in the correct order.
The first ring is straight in front as you start. The second, third and fourth rings are easy enough to spot and fly through. The fifth requires edging around a rooftop and an immediate dive to the road below to reach the sixth – watch out for the garbage truck next to it, if your wing clips it, it will be game over!
At the far end of the tunnel is ring seven, and then it’s off to the left and beneath the underpass above for ring eight. Rings nine through fourteen are again easy to spot and fly through whilst number fifteen requires us to fly down and under the red bridge. After that, the final three rings are easy enough, so just fly through to end the level.
Medal | Score | Reward/s |
---|---|---|
Bronze | Reach the end | $ 300 |
Silver | 800 | $ 1,000 |
Gold | 1,100 | 2,000 x Overcharge |

Glider Challenge #3¶
As with the first challenge, this level is essentially the same thing. We’re in a different area this time around, with a lot more mines. Fortunatelty the same strategy applies here need to make big laps around the mission area whilst trying to keep your distance from the mines whilst also spamming the fire button as soon as you see your reticule lock onto a mine in order to destroy it.
This is an extremely easy challenge and as long as you are regularly firing off your weapons, you’ll have the gold before you know it. Just remember to keep an eye on your energy meter and ensure that you fly over some steam/smoke to refill it as necessary.
Medal | Score | Reward/s |

Silver | 7,000 | $ 1,500 |
Gold | 8,500 | 3,000 x Overcharge |

Glider Challenge #4¶
As with Glider Challenge #2 we need to make our way through a series of white rings in a predetermined route whilst racing against a time limit. Note that like the traversal challenges, if you miss a ring, you will need to go back and get it as no additional rings will appear unless you go through them in the correct order.
The first three rings are easy enough as they are all in a straight line from the start. Once you hit the third ring, you’ll have to pull a hard left to reach number four.
When you reach ring five, you’ll need to dive immediately to the right to reach the sixth ring below a raised walkway and then turn sharply to the right to grab ring seven. Turn left to fly through ring eight and then take it easy as you grab nine and ten. Ring eleven is between a walkway and an overpass. Once you reach number twelve, dive down to reach thirteen and fly through the small tunnel Garb fourteen on the far side.
Rings fifteen through nineteen are all quite easy to spot, the problem is that you’ll be operating in a very narrow area whilst attempting to reach them. As such be careful and fly through them in as safe a manner as possible. When you reach the end, the challenge will be done for!
Medal | Score | Reward/s |
---|---|---|
Bronze | Reach the end | $ 500 |
Silver | 1,500 | $ 2,000 |
Gold | 2,500 | 4,000 x Overcharge |
