This side-quest can be initiated by interacting with the piece of wreckage indicated by the mission marker in the Little Tokyo District close to where we fought the Fizzie boss in the campaign.

One the mission begins we’ll be carrying this object around. For the first section of this side-mission we need to take the object and place it into a series of Fizzco machines that the game tells us to. Doing so will activate a hack timer and we will need to defend it against enemy attacks for a short period of time to complete the task. Note that we do not need to kill the enemies in the area, so once the timer has done its thing, you can quickly run in, nab the core and head off for the next location if you wish to do so.

The first machine is on the street by the mission start area (left). The second is on a nearby rooftop (right).

The machine locations and enemy encounters are slightly different at each of the three zones and this is what you can expect:

  • Down at street level by the starting location. Placing this into the machine will see you overrun by a large number of regular OD. Fight them off until the timer winds down from 30 seconds.
  • The second machine is on a nearby rooftop. This time around, you’ll have to hold out for 50 seconds. The defence will require that you fight off a wave of Fizzco Blade and Rifle Bots in addition to a steady stream of regular OD.
  • The third machine is in the courtyard with the pagoda. Again you’ll have to defend the machine for 50 seconds. This is a bit trickier as you’ll have a pair of Spawners, a horde of regular OD, plenty of Poppers and a Blower or several to contend with.

After the first three defence sequences, you’ll place Fizzie’s core into a fourth machine. This will initiate a self-destruct sequence. To abort this we need to grab the core and take it over and insert it into the final machine at the parking garage indicated by objective marker as quickly as possible. It is quite a distance to cover in a short amount of time, so no lollygagging!

Place the core into the machine at the car park to stop the self-destruct (left). Then kill all the robots that appear (right).

Following a short scene, you will need to clear out the parking garage of Fizzco forces. For the most part, you’ll be decommissioning Rifle and Blade Bots and as you get closer to the end of the sequence, more and more of them will show up at the same time. Simply hold off and once you have killed enough of them you’ll be able to progress.

To end the mission, all we need to do now is to grab the core from the Fizzco Fortunes machine when you are able to and then jump down to the water nearby and toss it in.
