Fire Emblem Engage looks to bring back previous games’ mechanics as well as introducing a whole host of new features to the franchise to create an experience that both players new and returning can enjoy.

One such feature that many Fire Emblem Warriors fans in particular are hoping to be included is co-op and this guide runs you through all of the information that’s out there on Fire Emblem Engage co-op.

As previously mentioned, Fire Emblem Warriors does have co-op functionality, so it would certainly be a welcome addition to Engage thus being able to share the experience with another. However, it appears that at the moment, this opinion wasn’t shared.

Sadly, at this current time, the official Nintendo listing states that there is no Fire Emblem Engage co-op, nor any multiplayer functionality for that matter, making it a sole, single player experience. While this might be a disappointment to those that have played only Warriors, Engage is a different style of Fire Emblem game, a more traditional approach to the long-standing franchise.

This means it is much more turn-based and lends itself more to a single player experience. In our eyes, if some form of multiplayer elements were included, they’d probably feel shoe-horned in and take away what makes a game like this challenging.

However, to counter this, the official Fire Emblem Japan Twitter account did share a video at the end of December showcasing some online play functionality, including what appears to be a custom made co-op style mode. Upon viewing this, we were able to deduce that each player takes turns on a specialised map in an attempt to complete it, and could potentially be for up to 5 players.

Unfortunately, while this might get you excited for some Fire Emblem Engage action with your friends, the fact that Nintendo itself is still stating that it is a single player game only means it’s anyone’s guess as to if, when, or how long it’s available.
