Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Chalice vs. The Brew

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are a few side quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio that are linked to doing something else in the game. One quest, titled The Chalice vs. The Brew will require you to defeat one of the game’s Bounties to retrieve the item. This will have you go through an optional dungeon, the Tomb of Lament, to reach the bounty, too. Defeating the Fatolich will yield the Chalice of Legends.

(1 of 2) Go to the Arenafront Wharf in Brilehaven to find this quest.

The Chalice vs. The Brew Location

This quest will start in Port Brilehaven, once you have access to the free time there, which starts on July 23rd, at the earliest. Teleport to the Arenafront Wharf and you will find the NPC on the northern side. Speak with him to learn that he is very proud of his brew, but wants the fabled Chalice of Legends. He mentions the cup is still with its last owner, who seems to be a ghost. Thankfully, you took a bounty that has similar target, meaning you’ll need to go to a recruiter and accept the Fatolich bounty.

Chalice of Legends Location

Going by the above, you go get the Fatolich bounty, which will reveal the location of the Tomb of Lament. It’s a good idea to do all of the other side quests at the same time, as traveling around the Brilehaven region can take a lot of free time, if done one-by-one. The Tomb of Lament can be tough to navigate, as there are a lot of Guptauros roaming its halls. Unlike the one you fought in Belega Corridor, this one has access to Heat Riser, a skill that buffs attack, defense and agility all at once. That’s also not mentioning the physical attacks they have, but they are weak to both Pierce and Ice.

(1 of 2) You will find the Fatolich bounty at the end of the Tomb of Lament.

Once you make it to the boss room, you will want to make sure you have access to both Light and Wind attacks, while also not being weak to Dark. The Fatolich has a lot of Dark attacks and will summon a Chimenza, which can hit hard with some of its attacks. The main boss is weak to Light, while its minion is weak to Wind, but you want to remove the Chimenza quickly, as the Fatolich is stronger with it out. After getting rid of it (only summons it once), you can concentrate on the bounty. Defeating it will yield the Chalice of Legends, so when you’re done with all of the optional content, return to town.

Remember that you will need to turn in the bounty first, then you can report to the NPC to finish the quest.

The Chalice vs. The Brew Rewards

For completing the quest, you will receive the brewer’s Miraculous Mead, which is a healing item that fully restores your party’s HP. Additionally, you will also receive 7,500 Reeves.
