Sea Horror Homo Sabara Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The trip to Virga Island is a long one, so you will have plenty of time on your runner to do extra activities. However, that time is cut short a little bit, as some monster decides to attack you. While it looks like a giant octopus, kraken or giant squid, it’s actually a human. The Sea Horror Homo Sabara is the name of the boss and you get some time to prepare, so when you’re ready, climb the ladder to get on the deck to start the battle.

You’ll do battle with Homo Sabara while on the way to Virga Island.

All of Homo Sabara’s Attacks

You have five different targets for this battle, which are four tentacles and the main boss. It can regrow some of the tentacles throughout the fight, but other than that, it doesn’t seem to affect too much.

  • Slam Strike: Sabara will use its two front legs to attack a single character with some physical damage.

  • Torrential Breath: Hits a single character with some medium ice damage.

  • Random Strike: The boss will use its tentacles to attack the whole party, with a random number of hits.

  • Ink Spew: The main body of the boss will spew ink at your characters, which has a chance to inflict Malady.

(1 of 4) Slam Strike hits a single character for some physical damage.

Homo Sabara Boss Strategy

When the fight begins, you will have five different targets for the boss, including its main body and four Legs (or tentacles). One might think that destroying all of the tentacles will stop the boss from doing specific attacks, but it does not, as it can still use the tentacle-featured attacks. Doing this might help with something like Random Strike, the most devastating move in the boss’ arsenal, as the number of attacks might be reduced. Of course, Homo Sabara does have the ability to regenerate its legs, which will respawn them with full health.

The Legs don’t appear to have a weakness, either, but they also appear to take full damage from all sources. While that’s true for the Legs, the main body is weak to lightning, so having access to any lightning damage type attacks will help gain some extra Turn Icons. If you have access to the Gakandera Synthesis Skill (Wizard and Healer, as an example), then this will help a lot in the beginning portions of the battle. Gakandera will hit all targets and since you struck the weakness of the main body, you’ll get those two extra Turn Icons.

(1 of 5) The boss will have four Legs that you can target that are separate from the main body.

So, what happens when you do destroy all of the Legs then? Well, the main body becomes weakened and just seems to take more damage overall. Kandera from a Wizard was doing about 600 damage to the main body on Normal before all the legs went down, and was doing around 1100 after the legs were destroyed. Most of the attacks from this boss are fairly normal, although Random Strike can hit a character a lot of times, so make sure to keep up on the healing. Also, Ink Spew attempts to put Malady on your party, which can severely weaken their stats should it connect, so heal that as soon as possible.

You’ll receive Sabara’s Sucker after winning the battle, which is just an item you can sell for money. The game will continue on after this, as you keep sailing to Virga Island.
