Glodell Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

After sneaking into the Charadrius and getting the key to Louis’ private chambers, you don’t get to enter it at that instant. Your party will plan to have you break into the ship again on the night of the soiree to grab the curse’s recipe. Once August 13th hits, the game will take over with a variety of cutscenes. You will sneak into the ship, but the key you got to open Louis’ chambers isn’t working. Things take a little turn for the worse and you will eventually end up on the wings of the Charadrius. In order to get back inside, you decide to use your sword to blade-ride over to Louis’ room.

Blade-Riding the Outer Walls

This can be a little bit tricky, as you don’t get a lot of lateral movement while you’re blade-riding during this portion. You basically just want to aim for the scaffolding that has the lights on them, with the protagonist automatically jumping on their own. If you don’t go at these spots, then your character will fall and you’ll be forced to start over from the beginning. There is a good bit of leeway here, as just aiming at the scaffolding will cause your character to jump the majority of the time.

(1 of 3) On the wings, simply aim for the spots that have lights on them.

Once you make it to the room, just check out all of the green dots, although you won’t find what you need. One more will appear after doing that, on the one bookshelf. This will trigger a series of scenes, with you meeting up with Junah and then witnessing a speech by Louis. When you’re in control again, exit the room and choose to go to the deck for more scenes. The fight will start shortly after the scene on the deck.

All of Glodell’s Attacks

Glodell will mainly use buff spells on Hector, while the canine-like creature will attack your party. After defeating Hector, that is when Glodell will start doing more attacks.

  • Mage Shield: Glodell will use this on Hector to raise his defence.

  • Mage Strength: Glodell uses this on Hector to raise his attack power.

  • Mage Floe: Ice attack from Glodell that hits both characters.

  • Mage Salvation: Glodell uses this to heal Hector. It will heal around 320 HP or so.

  • Powerful Pulveriser: Hector. Strong physical attack that targets a single character.

  • Rend: Hector. Single target physical attack that hits for ok damage.

(1 of 4) At the start, Glodell will mostly just buff Hector.

  • Giant Slice: Used after defeating Hector. Physical attack against a single character.

  • Mage Plasma: Used after defeating Hector. Glodell hits both characters with some lightning magic.

Glodell Boss Strategy

When the battle first begins, you won’t be able to do anything, as Glodell is holding Junah hostage. All you can do is sit there and let Hector smack you around for a few rounds, until another cutscene triggers. This will start the proper battle, with only the protagonist and Junah being your party. Junah’s Archetype is called the Masked Dancer, but its true purpose is something that can be talked about later, as it has no bearing on this fight. Basically, the Masked Dancer can equip new masks to gain access to different skills, but this fight will have her equipped with the Seeker’s Mask.

This will give her access to Cyclo, Tarukaja, and Tetrabreak, while her own class gives her Infernal Vortex and the passive skill, Art of Dance. As you will see, you will have both Glodell and his pet, Hector, in this battle, so it’s a two-on-two fight. For the most part, while Hector is still alive, he will be doing most of the attacking, while Glodell will use various buffs on him, like increasing his defence and attack. You might get the odd attack from Glodell during this phase, which seems to only be a group ice spell.

He can also heal Hector by using Mage Salvation, but generally only does so when he is low on health. Thankfully, Hector is weak to wind, and Junah will have Cyclo during this battle, so you’ll be able to exploit some extra Turn Icons. Naturally, you should defeat Hector first, just because he has a weakness and is easier to defeat. Once you do this, Glodell will start using Giant Slice and Mage Plasma. The former only hits a single character, while the latter hits both characters. Both fire and wind work fine on Glodell, as well as what skills you likely have on your protagonist.

(1 of 3) Hector will be weak to wind, and Junah comes equipped with Cyclo.

Onward to Virga Island

There are more scenes after the battle has ended, with Junah becoming a permanent ally to your group now. At this time, your Bond with Gallica will reach Rank 5, so you’re getting up there with her. The party wonders who can reach the curse’s formula and decides on Rella, who is back in Grand Trad. A quick teleport (much to Junah’s surprise) and you’ll be there, so head to the church to find Rella and get more scenes. When prompted, use the bed on the runner to get to the next day, where you’ll learn your next goal, to get the Drakodios spear.

To get info on this, head to the tavern in Brilehaven and speak to the person behind the counter. She directs you to a mustari at the docks in the Merchants’ Bazaar area, so check the southern one first, then go to the northern one. After a conversation with the guy, you can then speak to Neuras when you’re ready to go to Virga Island.
