Probably one of the most iconic monsters of the franchise, Rathalos has been around since it all began and has been in every single game since. Along with its female counterpart, Rathian, Rathalos is one of the flagship monsters of the entire franchise and is going to be sticking around for a while. With its trademark brilliant red and black color scheme and its impressive and intimidating wings, Rathalos certainly looks the part.
Rathalos takes damage from every single element except Fire, but takes the most damage from Dragon and Thunder.
Attack
Explanation
Side Chomp
Weak and pitiful, Rathalos will chomp to the side a little bit. Meh.
Fireball
Rathalos will spit out a fire ball at you. Sometimes it will spit out three in different directions instead.
Charge
Rathalos will run towards you. It will usually perform this attack three times before stopping, and if tired will crash and fall when it’s done.
Double 180 Tailswing
Rathalos will turn 180 degrees twice, its rigid tail whipping through the air as it does so.
Aerial Fireball
Rathalos will fly up into the air and fire three fireballs at the ground. Then it will slowly descend. Very vulnerable to Flash Bombs as it descends.
Homing Talon Swipe
Rathalos will fly up high and slowly rotate to face its target (usually you). Then it will suddenly swipe down and slash you with its claws. VERY precise and needs a shield or the panic dive to save you. Poisons you if it hits!
Flying Charge
Instead of running at you, Rathalos will fly low above the ground at you as fast as it can. Will only perform this once, thankfully.
