This is a walkthrough for Route 229, including what Pokémon you can encounter and items you can find.
Route 229 is a postgame route situated at the intersection point between Route 228, the Resort Area and Route 230. It’s a fairly small area, with many trees and thick grass.
How to Navigate Route 229¶
If you arrived here from Route 228, you’ll start from the north-west corner, where there’s a large grassy field. Towards the south, there’s a pair of Ace Trainers above the route signpost. Going west from the signpost will send you to Route 230; heading south leads to the Resort Area, which you can visit if you need to rest.
Otherwise, if you came from Route 230 instead, you’ll need to travel east through a tree-lined path, before emerging further south from the Route 228 entrance. Nearby is the route signpost. Above the signpost is the pair of Ace Trainers and below is the path to the Resort Area.
In any case, when you’re ready, head east from the center of the grassy field above the Ace Trainers. You’ll come across some thick grass that will slow you down. Near the bottom of this grass, there’s a gap in-between the trees with a skinny tree blocking the way. Slice it with HM Cut and check the end of the path for a Reaper Cloth.
Next, proceed east from the top of the thick grass. As the path opens up, there’s an Ace Trainer looking for a fight. If you want to avoid her, you can turn backwards and come around from the Resort Area. Anyway, further east, near the corner is a Full Restore for the taking. Moving on, go south-west towards the space between the trees, south from the Reaper Cloth path.
It might be somewhat hard to notice, but there’s a guy here you can speak to. He’ll hand over a Nugget in lieu of any proper advice. Go back a bit, then head in a south-easterly direction. Between the trees, there’s another skinny tree you can Cut. Beyond is a bottle of Protein above a pond. After grabbing it, Surf onto the pond and search the bottom-left corner for a hidden Big Mushroom.
Return to just before you used Cut to enter the pond area. Now keep heading west and south until there’s a path above and below. The path above has a berry patch that you can raid. Meanwhile, the path below also leads to the Resort Area.
