Manaphy is a limited time Pokémon that can be obtained in the game before February 21st, 2022.
If you’re looking to add Manaphy to your Pokédex, you’ll have to obtain and hatch the egg. This is how you do it.
How to Get a Manaphy Egg¶
To get the egg, you’ll have to unlock Mystery Gifts in the game.
Mystery Gifts are obtained in Jubilife City via the TV station. Unfortunately, when you first come through the city, you’ll find your way blocked by a clown.
Talk to the first person you come across in Jubilife City, who will ask you to obtain coupons from three clowns in the area in exchange for a Pokétch. Once you’ve done this, forget the TV station for now and head to the first gym.
When you’ve beaten Roark, head back to Jubilife City. Slightly North, in Route 204, you’ll find two Team Galactic grunts who you’ll have to defeat in a double battle with Lucas/Dawn.
Once you’ve done this, you’ll be able to enter the TV station.
Head to the third floor and talk to the man furthest south in the room. He’ll ask you which TV you like to watch, and you should select, “EVERYONE HAPPY WI-FI CONNECTION.” Once you’ve done this, Mystery Gifts will be a new option in your main menu and you can connect to the internet to get your Manaphy Egg and your Platinum Clothing.
How to Hatch a Manaphy Egg¶
You can hatch your egg by walking around 2500 steps (10 egg cycles) in the game.
Pokémon | Level | Type |
---|---|---|
Manaphy | 1 |
Your egg must be actively in your party to do this, and you can check its progress by clicking on it and hitting the right arrow.
How to Use Manaphy¶
Like all Pokémon hatched from eggs, Manaphy starts at Level 1. By the time you obtain and hatch the egg, your team should be Level 10~20, so Manaphy will need a fair amount of catching up if you want to use it. Thankfully, you can rely on the automatic Exp. Share to feed it experience without fighting.
Once Manaphy has gained some Levels, it can be a solid sweeper using Tail Glow to boost its Special Attack by a whopping 3 stages. Manaphy is a great addition to your team if you didn’t start with Piplup and are lacking a good Water-type.
