The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Hidden Treasure

By
Nathan Garvin

Sometimes you just need to kill a few monsters or bandits to claim the various hauls of treasure found throughout the world, but in the case of hidden treasures you’ll need to complete what are effectively mini-quests to get at their plunder. On this page you’ll find a walkthrough for all the hidden treasure events in White Orchard, including how to start each quest and what you need to do to find the treasure at the end.

White Orchard Hidden Treasure Locations

Deserter Gold

Far northeast of the Mill signpost you’ll find a Hidden Treasure event out in the middle of nowhere. Here you’ll find a small campsite and the corpse of its occupant nearby, and perhaps the odd "Wolf" iconWolf prowling nearby to keep you company. Kill the "Wolves" iconWolves, if necessary, then loot a chest near a tent to find the Spy’s "Notes" iconNotes, which will direct you to an “abandoned hut near the old mill”.

At an isolated camp you’ll find a chest containing the “Spy’s Notes”, which directs you to the same cache as in the treasure hunt “Temerian Valuables”.

This is, of course, the mill just east of the Mill signpost and the “abandoned hut” is just northeast of said mill. Enter the house, turn south and drop down into a partially boarded-over pit that leads down into a cellar. Use "Aard" iconAard on a flimsy door at the bottom of the stairs to clear the way, then loot the chests beyond. This is the same place you’ll need to loot to complete another hidden treasure event, "Temerian Valuables" iconTemerian Valuables.

Dirty Funds

East, northeast of the Mill signpost you’ll find a hidden treasure event out in the wilderness. When you arrive you’ll find a campsite infested by Wolves. Prove you’re the deadlier predator, and when the wolves are gone, loot a chest near a tent to find some Scrawled "Note" iconNotes, which will direct you to a bandit camp deeper in the wilderness to the east.

(1 of 3) Loot a chest in a Wolf-infested camp to find “Scrawled Notes”,

This is by far the largest bandit camp in the White Orchard region, occupied by six bandits that you’ll have to fight in two groups of three. Dispatch them and find the large tent atop the hill, inside of which are three chests (two large ones near a bed and a small one in the corner). Loot these to complete this treasure hunt.

Temerian Valuables

To start this treasure hunt, follow the riverside road connecting the town of White Orchard to the Nilfgaardian Garrison until you spot a bridge spanning the river to the east. Search near the shore near the western end of the bridge to find a corpse, on which is a Temerian Lily "Key" iconKey, then walk forward into the water while keeping your witcher senses active and you should see a submerged chest in the depths near the bridge. Dive down and loot it - a feat you can accomplish with the aforementioned key - and you’ll find some Blood-soaked military orders along with other loot. Read it and the quest Temerian Valuables will begin.

(1 of 3) Loot a corpse on the shore near a bridge to find the Temerian Lily Key,

To claim the treasure, cross the bridge to reach the eastern side of the river and follow the road east to the Mill signpost, then northeast to find the mill itself. Enter an abandoned house northeast of the mill and turn right (south) to find a poorly boarded-over cellar. You should be able to just walk down into it, despite a smattering of beams insufficiently covering the way, then head downstairs and blast a door with the Aard sign. Beyond you’ll find a room full of treasure chests - loot them to complete this quest.

(1 of 4) Head to an abandoned hut near the old mill,

In the wake of the assassination of Foltest, king of Temeria, the north have been rent by warfare as Nilfgaard launches its third major invasion, and the northlands have been united under the insane king Radovid.
