How to Beat the Neurothrope in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2¶
As you progress through the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 campaign, you’ll face off against numerous potent bosses. Few compare to the Neurothrope, however. This challenging warp-wielding enemy floats above the arena, summons mobs, and deals severe area-of-effect damage. But like all other elite enemies you’ve defeated to this point, you can stomp this Tyranid into the ground. We’ll help you!
New Objective: Defeat the Neurothrope
Neurothrope Boss Strategy¶
For the most part, the Neurothrope boss fight is one of attrition. The moment you enter the arena, you’ll spot the flying beast in the center of the room down a small staircase. It will remain in this zone for the duration of the fight. You can use the outer walkway, which includes a few pieces of debris that act as cover, to flank the Neurothrope.
The Neurothrope will launch a number of direct attacks on you, alongside summoning Tyranids to swarm the party. One of its most devastating attacks is a warp beam seemingly made of light. The beast will draw itself back momentarily, preparing for a strike, and then release the energy beam directly at the ground in front of it. The beam moves forward across the ground, damaging anything caught within its radius, so dodge left or right out of its path. If you’re struck by the beam, not only does it cause severe damage to your armour and health, but it can lead to disorientation that puts you at greater risk against Tyranids and further attacks from the Neurothrope.
The disorientation effect from the Neurothrope only lasts for a few seconds but makes landing shots more challenging.
Another common attack the Neurothrope does is a psychic roar. It winds up in the air, floating in a semi-circle, before drawing back and releasing its energy-infused roar within a relatively short radius in its immediate vicinity. If you’re too close to the beast, such as within melee distance, it will disorient you can deal a small amount of damage. So long as you have armour, you should survive the blast without issue. But the disorientation affect can cause issues if the arena is full of Tyranid mobs. When you notice the Neurothrope wind up, move back.

The final attack, and perhaps its most common, is to toss green blobs of goo-like energy in your direction. Once the Neurothrope releases its goo at you, you can dodge in either direction to avoid the projectiles. But there’s also multiple. Don’t stop rolling to the side after the first one, as you’ll leave yourself wind open for a follow-up hit. This strike appears to be its main damage-dealing attack, and it’s not overwhelmingly powerful or potent, so long as you’re paying attention.

Occasionally, the Neurothrope hunkers down and creates a green energy shield that blocks all incoming attacks. To get around the shield and continue dealing damage, step inside its radius while the boss focuses its energy on keeping the shield live. It’s vulnerable in this state and susceptible to melee damage.
Between dodging attacks, keep whittling down the Neurothrope’s health until he staggers and falls to the ground. You may then rapidly approach and deal critical damage with a finishing move to end the fight and push on to your objective!
