The Hive Tyrant, guiding force behind the Tyranid menace in the system, now stalks the hive world of Avarax. While such an abomination would be worth killing for the crime of existing, tarnishing the galaxy with its vile intrusion, this particular bug is also threatening vital communications in the region. If the Imperium is to have any hope of securing succor, a squad of Astartes will have to hunt down the beast. Of course, no task is too important to distract from the omnipresent diversion that are Dataslates, and like most Operations mode missions, Decapitation features two of them. This page will guide you to both of the Dataslates in the Operations mode mission [Decapitation] in Space Marine 2.

Decapitation Dataslates¶
The Hive Tyrant is the overall goal of this mission, but taking down a xeno of such might isn’t as simple as finding it and hacking it apart with a chainsword - such prey must be weakened, isolated and herded into an appropriate killing field. That being the case, there’s a lot of preparation you’ll have to take care of before you can engage the Hive Tyrant. Your first objective is to head to the Bridge Tower and plant some explosives; shortly into the mission you’ll pass some Candians and enter a building, where you’ll likely encounter your first serious Tyranid resistance. Head upstairs and you’ll find some rubble to the right creating a ramp leading outside - if you take this ramp and drop down you’ll miss the first Dataslate, which is up more stairs on a balcony.
Continue on until you reach a segment where you’re tasked with “locating and deploying explosive charges” in the Bridge Tower, rig the building for detonation, then ride an elevator up to the bridge where you’ll have to survive a holdout segment along with some Cadians, then take another elevator. After taking this elevator you’ll need to pass over more rooftops and through more buildings until you reach a second elevator. Don’t take this elevator just yet, however, as the second Dataslate is nearby, in a dead end tunnel.
If you’ve got to miss a Dataslate, the first one is the one to miss, as it’s not very far into the level at all. You should end up with one Dataslate before you ever spot the Hive Tyrant, while the bridge holdoff segment is a good spot to keep in mind, as you’ll need to start looking out for the second Dataslate after this point.

Dataslate 01: Final Sermon¶
At the start of the mission you’ll get the objective “Proceed to the Bridge Tower”. Run through the hive city and enter a cathedral, go up several flights of stairs until you find some burning rubble forming a bridge leading to another building outside. Before you cross this impromptu bridge, head up some more stairs and through a doorway to reach a balcony. Turn left and you’ll find the Dataslate on the floor.

Dataslate 02: Bridge Construction, Overseer Commentary¶
After placing explosives in the Bridge Tower, Advance to the bridge where you’ll have to assist some Cadians during a holdout segment before ultimately blowing the bridge. At this point the objective “Pursue the Hive Tyrant” will begin; ride another elevator then cross through more buildings and rooftops until you enter a massive, cylindrical tunnel. At a fork turn right, go up some stairs, to reach a more open chamber, then turn left towards a ventilation fan. Go up and down another small flight of stairs, then turn right to find a dead-end. Search the corner behind a crate to find this Dataslate resting atop a toolbox.

Note that opposite this dead-end are two circular windows through which you’ll spot the Hive Tyrant, and to the right of these is another elevator you’ll need to ride - if you take this elevator you’ll miss the Dataslate.
