This secluded paradise connects Route 16 and Route 17; you can reach here via the north-west exit of Route 16. As you enter, there’s a Golfer ahead who acts as the boss trainer of this area–as usual, come back after you’ve humbled the other Pokemon trainers.
Start by heading along the boardwalk. As it bends north-east, approach the centre to find a Photo Spot. Also near here, by the corner, is a totally obvious Zygarde Cell (55) . Carry on north. Towards the east is a side path that circles around back to the main boardwalk.
Head along this side path and make your way towards the east-most edge. Around here is a trainer admiring the scenery or something.
Officer Worker Michelle¶
Torkoal has Drought, which boosts Fire-type moves and weakens Water-type ones. Cancel it with your own weather etc. or brave the fierce sunshine with your Ground and Rock-types.
Poor Seaking will be feeling under the weather, what with its Water-type moves weakened by the sun. Put it out of its misery with Grass or Electric-types; you can blast it with Solar Beam or Solar Blade to really rub in the wounds.
If the sun’s still up, Leafeon can easily be one-shotted by your Fire-type Pokemon. Flying, Poison, Bug and Ice-types are also good.
Back on the central boardwalk, just above the bottom-most of the two eastward paths is a short staircase that you can use to enter the area with red flowers. Down below, there’s a dancer twirling around.
Dancer Mirielle¶
Pokemon | Level | Type |
---|---|---|
Oricorio (Baile Style) | 34 | Fire/Flying |
This red-coloured Oricorio is the one native to Ula’ula Island. Fire and Flying has its uses, but the Type combination is incredibly susceptible to Rock-type moves. Which is your cue to bury it with Rock-types. Failing that, Electric and Water-types will suffice.
In this enclosed area, there may be a sparkling spot in the north-west corner; inspect it to discover Red Nectar . If you’ve got an Oricorio of your own, you can feed it Red Nectar to change it into the Fire-type Baile Style. However it’s probably the worst of the lot, so avoid unless you adore it.
Next, head east from Mirielle. After the red flowers end, there’s a Repeat Ball on the floor, by the side of the boardwalk. Once you’re done sniffing the flowers, return up the stairs and continue north along the central boardwalk.
Before crossing to the other side, head along the side path towards the west, where the Lass is patrolling. Of course, feel free to show her your powerful Pokemon.
Lass Rylee¶
Sneasel is a Pokemon you won’t find in the wild anytime soon. It receives a whopping 4x damage from Fighting-types moves and the standard 2x damage from Fire, Rock, Steel, Bug and Fairy-type moves. You’re sure to have something from within that big list.
Komala is perpetually asleep, so don’t bother trying to cause a status ailment on it. Fighting-types are best, while Ghost-types with access to moves of other Types can take advantage of their immunity to Normal-type moves. Just watch out for its Sucker Punch.
West from Rylee is a slope leading to a patch of tall grass. Wade through the grass to find an X Sp. Def in the empty area along the south. After this brief detour, head back to the central boardwalk and go down the nearby steps leading west.
Around the middle of the red flowers in this enclosed space is another sparkling spot that yields Red Nectar , in case you can’t get enough of it. After grabbing it, it will regenerate eventually. Further west, where the red flowers end, is an Adrenaline Orb .
Finally, when you reach the end of the boardwalk, the exit to Route 17 is just up ahead. But as usual, a little diversion never hurts anyone. If you’re careful that is. Past the boardwalk, make your way east. Near the north-east corner, there’s a row of tall grass.
After passing through, be sure to retrieve the Zygarde Cell (56) near the tall grass along the north. After that, carry on north-east to the exit. Along the way, there’s a female Ace Trainer pondering about the area ahead.
Lake of the Sunne/Moone¶
An optional side area with not much to it, besides its sheer atmosphere. From the entrance, head north, then across the stone bridge to the entrance of the ruins. Inside, approach the north-east corner to find TM03 Psyshock , a neat special move that deals physical damage.
From here, you can continue north to reach the endpoint of this area, but right now, there’s nothing to see. Either way, once you’re breathed in enough of the atmosphere, exit back to Ula’ula Meadow. Then run back to the entrance and challenge the Golfer.
Golfer Dean¶
A user of the Flame Orb, a held item that inflicts Burn on its holder. Normally a bad thing, but it can be manipulated like you’re about to see.
Hariyama automatically inflicts itself with a Burn once the first turn ends. Burn usually lowers a Pokemon’s Attack, but Hariyama has the Guts Ability that negates this effect and instead boosts its Attack. Finish it quick with Flying, Psychic or Fairy-types.
Alakazam plays a little switcheroo by using Trick to swap its held item with your Pokemon’s, thus giving your Pokemon the Flame Orb. Doh! It will also spam Recover while your Pokemon gets damage by its Burn. A good solution is to send a Fire-type as they cannot be burned.
If you’re confident, you can also try and one-shot Alakazam before the Flame Orb kicks in. A Pokemon that knows Knock Off is great since Knock Off does more damage if a Pokemon has a held item and Alakazam will gain your Pokemon’s held item.
Surpass the fiery ordeal and you’ll receive a Flame Orb for yourself. Try not to burn yourself, alright?
